I was on the Train last year and was excited about TN's future. I was also pi$$ed when I first heard he left. Now I'm looking with trepidation at Dooley's hire. Then I thought of the comparisons:

Never heard of Kif before(Dooley)
LK was a recruiter and won a MNC under a great coach(Dooley)
LK had NFL experience(Dooley)
LK had a loosing record as a HC(Dooley)
LK was young and energetic(Dooley)
Lk came from an impressive pedigree(Dooley)

Looking back, I was excited most by who LK was bringing with him. Wouldn't most here have been as unsure about LK as DD if Monte and EO weren't part of the package. If we were willing to give LK 3-5 years to turn things around, doesn't DD deserve the same chance? Unfortunately EO's don't come around often but who's to say DD won't find or be the next one. Just trying to stay half full.

I have the same initial feelings about both of the hires. There are people who are paid good money to make these hires and I will reserve my negative or positive opinion of them after I see the results on the field

I thought that Monte was a + and Coach O was a -. Basically, I was just happy for a change after extended malaise. I liked some of what was happening with recruiting, but not much else. I don't feel like LK was here long enough for me to grow attached to him or develop much of an opinion one way or another. The way he left was somewhat humiliating to the program but that's on him.

I cant lie, I got sucked into the Lame Train with all the hype. It was as if new life was breathed into the program and I was excited about all the recruits that were looking at UT. I was let down when Lame left and at first I was PO'ed about how everyone was turning us down and then we hired "Double D". After looking at his resume and listening to him at the presser I like what I see. I to was surprised about Kippy bolting (especially after that speech which leads me to believe that USC people are out to get UT for some reason). I think looking down the road we are better and hopefully Double D will get a staff together and keep some of these commits from leaving and get the decommits to come back (especially Ambles). I must say I miss the Hype though.

As a rival fan who has been in the area for 13 years, I never could cheer for Fulmer, and well, outside of TN, most thought Lame's antics laughable because it would be 2011 before actions might match his words. a lot of rivals are still snickering at the Dooley hire, but he's the first coach you've had since Majors that I feel I can respect. I hope to be able to walk into Neyland not cheering for whoever is playing the Vols next year, except for that Saturday in September.

We weren't looking for a coach that our rivals can respect, we were looking for one that could lay a beatdown on all of them come Saturday. The way Kiffin and his staff recruited, I felt that we had that guy for one year, and it stings to think we're back to looking again.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sure Hamilton is going to sleep better tonight.

Hey, I don't try to slam Vol posters on GSMB, and half the people on here are calling for Hamilton to be fired. If DD can bring wins and respect to your program I think he will be a good hire. With him at the helm I wouldn't mind seeing TN win it's games. It's far too early to judge Dooley yet, but I wish him well and hope you have a quality team on the field. I didn't see that after Phil won his NC, and Lame was well, redundant. I'm not trying to kick you when you're down, I think you've got a better coach now than you've had in the last decade. MHO and time will tell.
