ok just looked it up, sorry for the back to back posts. CARDS 42 to UT 24. OUCH. You can complain about the line ups, the turnovers, the bad shooting and the horrific free throw %, but games are won and lost on the boards and the Cards almost doubled them up. Was UT's greatest weakness just being weaker?

With the 3 point line being moved back it should help make the game better. With the players coming back and the signees we should have a really good team. I did not think we would miss Dane as much as we did but no one else stepped up to help this team think on the floor. This playground style that comes from the NBA over the last 20 years is having a negative effect on kids and their work ethic in practicing, their shooting, free throws, and passing. It is not a UT problem alone. It will cost Memphis a chance to win it all if they don't play under control.

JP Prince should never see the starting line-up the rest of time he wears a Tennessee uniform. He can't handle the ball so he is not a PG. He can't shoot so he is not a SG. He isn't big or strong to play in the post so he can't play the 3 or 4 spot. There isn't a spot on the floor for him.

With his height and athleticism he would be the perfect swingman, but he has doesn't even have a decent enough shot or post move to be that. Not hard to defend a guy that you know is going to the rim everytime he wants to score.

The only thing that Prince does well is finish around the basket. The problem for him is getting to the basket. A lot of his points this year were off garbage clean-ups or fast breaks. He can't shoot, he can't dribble well enough to run the point. I'm beginning to see more and more why Arizona didn't want any part of him.

If I were Tyler Smith, I'd be off to the NBA as fast as I could. If Scotty Hopson doesn't come to Tennessee, this team isn't going to be all that great next year. Why hang around and play with a bunch of guys who play like middle-school girls when the pressure gets high.

Ryan Childress is useless.

If JP was really a great player his dad would have probably replaced Buzz Peterson.

1. All of you who have claimed Chris Lofton can play in the NBA, please watch tonight's tape again.

I watched the game with a friend who asked why Lofton was falling sideways every time he shot. After the two blocked 3s, he understood. For a kid that is short and slow, he has done a tremendous amount with his career. I wish him a long and prosperous stint in the pros, but if that is going happen, he may have to learn to speak French or Greek.

5. Ramar, don't listen to our alleged fan base. You'll be fine.

He will. He just needs to be taught how to stay under control.

9. Brian Williams and Wayne Chism, keep doing what you're doing. You're both going to make a lot of money playing this game.

They both get better every game, and I have hopes for Crews as well with a healthy season. Inside we look strong for the years to come, I just see a need for some scoring help from the guards.

If Tyler Smith returns and Scottie Hopson signs with Tennesee, UT will play in the '09 Final Four. Write it down in ink.

My biggest question for next year is who is going to shoot the ball from the outside. With J. Smith and Lofton departing, Chism may lead the team in 3-pointers.

Tatum and Woolridge can both shoot. If we land Hopson he can too.

That is irresponsible and immature. Was the pressure not high against Memphis? Was the pressure not high when they made the run to get back in the game early in the second half?

The Vols ran into a team that exposed their weaknesses, and they got beat. That is all. To question this team's poise or manhood is just wrong.

BTW good call on the game HatVol. I guess most of us were delusional thinking we could actually play with those guys

I have never said Chirs Lofton would be a pro. I think he (if he even does get drafted) would suck in the NBA. But the rest of what you said, Hat, I agree.

Not really. Tennessee just picked a bad time to play an awful game.

Both teams played awfully. Louisville had a couple of moments in middle of the game where they played good, then finished strongly. Had we played consistently in this game we would have had a shot to win it at the end. However if Louisville had played their A-game I think the outcome would have been the same, no matter how well we played.

Was about to say the same thing. We weren't delusional. Tennessee was good enough to almost erase a 16-pt first-half lead 3 minutes into the second half. We were poised to take control of the game.

But we lost the momentum and then lost our composure - took several successive horrible shots, and Lville capitalized on each one to pad the lead.

Honestly, Tennessee was a true point guard away from beating Louisville if you ask me. We had too many scoring droughts, and had a tendency to just throw the ball up with a bad look. The biggest issue was Lofton frankly. If he isn't scoring he is just as big a determent as Jordan Howell because he is just too slow to be an effective defender. Chris had a great career as far as I am concerned, but the one thing we won't miss is his defense as of late.

We have a better team that should be expected to beat Louisville. But giving credit, Louisville executed and simply "wanted" the game more than we did.

Pulling a no-show on the boards and shooting 8-26 from our key shooters sealed the deal.

That was always the fear. Have a bad shooting night and get victimized by the lack of rebounding. Deadly combination for anyone, not just UT.

Congrats for a great season and certain great moments we all enjoyed!!
However, until the player IQ is raised and some more prescence inside is realized we will stay put. Going downtown for an outside team was not a good game plan or a mental lapse for the players.
Free throws were atrocious.
Timeouts called while on the floor with 3 Vols around you is not smart, look first timeout second!!
Recruiting should be helped by the new success of the program and Bruce will capitalize on it!!
Good season Bruce but attacking 3 cards inside????

Lofton's tournament play is reminiscent of John Starks in 94 finals. Lacksidasical play at the 1 and 2 position was the difference. Frankly this was a tough bracket. With a win a over Louisville, I could not see getting past the elite 8. UNC is playing the best all-around basketball in the entire field.

Wish we could have borrowed the kid from Belmont for this tourney.

Delusional? No...we played a terrible game for 40 minutes, and somehow were still very much in it until the last 5. We managed to snatch defeat from the hands of victory on this one. Louisville's press was not impressive, but instead of pushing the ball and working down the court as we did at the beginning, we decided to send airmail to the 15th row. Instead of seeing 30+ on the shotclock, we saw 3...driving over and over and getting rejected over and over is not something that nets very many points. Especially when fouls called against Louisville gained us nothing. We played an embarrassing game and were still almost in it. We made preseason mistakes 6 months too early.

2. To all of our genius fans who thought we had the advantage in depth, check Earl Clark's numbers.
3. To everyone who questioned me placing Louisville ahead of Tennessee in the Trap's preseason poll, I'm not laughing with you, I'm laughing at you.
4. Tyler Smith should go to the draft forthwith. Building a life for your child is far more important than entertaining a bunch of ingrates.
5. Ramar, don't listen to our alleged fan base. You'll be fine.
6. JP, please see if Lute will take you back.
7. Ryan Childress, Wright State could use you.
8. Bruce, use that scholarship to get Ramar some JUCO help.
9. Brian Williams and Wayne Chism, keep doing what you're doing. You're both going to make a lot of money playing this game.10. Cam Tatum, your time is now.

Okay Hat, I can agree with almost all of what you said but Brian Williams making money playing basketball is a long shot. He is our worst offensive player and has slow feet. Unless he improves 200%, he has no future in the NBA. Other than that, I like your post and agree with you.

Williams has decent footspeed for a guy his size, he just puts them in the wrong places at times. He is young and raw, although his offensive game is showing a lot of improvement already.

He reminds me some of Nazr Mohammed in style and potential.
