OBC gambling on 4th down

He lost anyway and his is playing with an experienced team. I don't think he has needed to play 23 freshmen to field his best team.

I prefer a coach that pulls out all the stops to go for a win, especially when facing a better team. Maybe you like coaches that try to keep the score close.

Butch talks a good game but has yet to coach one

You don't know what your talking about. Butch out coached the OBC last year to win the game. His cat and mouse game at the end was like a chess match and Butch won on that 4th and long call. You either have an agenda or just

Same team with 1 nfl qb, 3 nfl wrs, 1 nfl te, and 4 nfl offensive linemen. Since you probably can't count and can only talk about chit that happened 2 years ago, that's 9 nfl players off that offense.
I bet you still cry about the girl who dumped you a few years ago for a dumbass.

He saw the dumbass when he looked in the mirror.

It was all part of the "process" right? Lets be behind at the end and throw up a prayer and hope our WR makes a miracle catch. Now that is a sound strategy.

The reasoning is pretty simple: Spurrier's defense is awful. He didn't have any faith that they could stop a Gus Malzahn offense. Whereas, South Carolina's offense has been pretty spectacular lately. So why not gamble with the offense? You know your defense is probably going to give up the points anyway.

The idea that "Butch doesn't play to win" is misguided. Butch has a defense that has played pretty well most of the season. Spurrier has the reverse situation. It'll be an interesting game, with strength upon strength (SC's O vs UT's D) and weakness upon weakness (UT's O vs SC's D).

I laughed. I would be the worst motivational speaker around, especially with our current generations. You tell people like it really is, and they can not handle it. Too many live in a fantasy world.

If your objective is to get people to turn on Jones, it ain't gonna happen.

I am not trying to change anyone's mind on Jones. People will continue to decide as time goes on. I hope he proves me wrong, as that means TN wins.

Trust me, I have my doubts about Jones right now. Anyone who isn't a complete sheeo does. People say if Jones did blah blah blah, you'd like him better. Key word is if.

He went for it because he knew Auburn was going to score at will. He had to if he wanted to stay in the game. Had it ever went to 14+, you prob dont get back in it. If we keep them 3rd and 7+, I dont think he does,it much unless we come out and out 14-17 straight points. Jmo

Guess I'm a complete "sheeo" because he was never going to win big in the second year. The depth chart was too depleted and talent down at critical positions. If he goes 7-5 (that if), with this OL, he should be given major props. All imo

Did I say he was supposed to win big? No. I did expect us to beat the worst Florida team in 20-30 years. Say what you want to, but it's a huge eyesore in Jones' tenure. We should have also beat Vandy last year.

I want a coach that gives us the best chance to win, especially when are playing teams which have superior talent and experience. Play the an intelligent game and don't did the hole any deeper. As people say, when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

I would guess that fans who support reckless approaches to any problem are the ones who complain most loudly when those effort with low probabilities of success fail. We would have won the game if we hd not fumbled, thrown interceptions and missed open receivers with inaccurate passes. With our talent and inexperience, going on fourth down would not have been very smart.

So Butch isn't a good coach because he doesn't go for it on 4th down often enough with the worst offensive line in the SEC?

Seems like I recall Butch going for it on 4th three times against UGA last year.

Not disagreeing with you, but a few times this year I thought they should have gone for it on 4th down just to give the defense a rest.

Ya, Beating the OBC when he had a top 10 and vastly more talented team then Butch last year doesn't count right?

Just because you trolls say something, doesn't make it true..keep trying though. One of these days you might say something that makes sense.. I doubt it, but it is at least possible.

He could not even run Joker off the field with a WR playing QB. Jones and his crew of SEC rejects were no problem though.

You're still talking about an SEC team, albeit a bad one, vs an American Athletic team. Sorry, not apples to apples. Nobody is buying this crap dude, give it up.

Laughable.

If you had a garbage defense like Spurrier does, you'd be scared $&@!less of punting the football too.

Spurrier has gone for it on many occasions when he has had good defenses both at FL and USCe, and many times against UT through the years.

He was out manned last week, and he went for it. Jones was out manned too, way behind, and he kicked field goals. Of course he has punted from his 38 on 4th and 3 against other teams, so it really isn't anything new.

I thought it would be nice to try and come back and win, but I guess keeping it under the 20 point spread is a moral victory. Of course that was only due to a late fumble when Bama was about to score again.

Cinci is in the Big East.

Yep that is what I thought too, but I went to ESPN to be sure since I damned well knew if I got it wrong you would use that to deflect away from the rest of your crap in this thread so I double checked it on ESPN and saw this.

American Athletic Conference Standings - College Football - ESPN

Didn't even know there was such a thing as American Athletic conf and no idea if that's the same as Big East either.

edit: well you used to be right!

OBC has never been scared to take chances. If you have seen his defense this year you would understand why.
