I expect the text message in the next three hours, so I was wonder who you guys think will get it. I have it down to a possible five with one of them being a complete dark horse and the other being someone whose name hasn't come up in awhile

Bayh
Biden
Bloomberg
Hagel
Sebelius

Barack's recent comments about it being an "independent" and someone who will "challenge" him leads me to believe that Hagel and Bloomberg are still possibilities. Bayh is much more conservative than Obama so that would make sense as well. Sebelius is good because it strengthens the women's vote, and Biden brings along a lot of foreign policy experience.

Sorry OE but, Thoughts?

Does he want someone from a key state that he needs to win? That could be a big factor also. What would OE do if Bloomberg went with Obama?

Chet Edwards would be an interesting selection, but I don't think they let it build up this much for him. Hell, you could say the same for Bayh and Sebelius

No. That was my sarcasm coming through. I use that a lot on here. I do like Harold Ford but he needs to win something in Tennessee first.

Bayh is the most tolerable for me.

Biden should be able to dig up some good speeches off the Internet to use...

Plus I believe they have Warner giving one of the speeches (keynote?). No need to waste 2 slots pandering to VA.

It is only a few right wingers who make his family an issue. He distanced himself from them a long time ago and has NEVER been linked to any of the illegal activities.

Non-issue for everyone except the far right

I will disagree about it only being an issue with the far right. Right or wrong many Tennesseans did not vote for him because of that issue. I would hardly call many Tennesseans "a few right wingers".

If you take the population of Tennessee as a whole and say that half are "far right wingers" you would be wrong. They may be "right wingers" by definition but when you add the extreme (as truefan did) you exaggerate the claim and make it false.

I just posed the question that given Obama's past relationships (viewed by some as suspect) would he really want another person on his ticket with those same problems?

Obama has the black vote so he'd never take Harold Ford Jr. He is going to get someone that appeals to people he doesn't. That's why Chet Edwards name is popping up at the last minute.

back the truck up. I thought Obama was about change and a new paradigm in government, but it sounds like you're saying he's just an old school politician. I'm confused.

I'm not Obama so i can't answer for him but I assume he meant the way he handles the job of President not the strategy involved in winning the Presidency. Of course he has a strategy, if he didn't he wouldn't target certain states with campaign ads.

so for now, whatever he says and does are just about getting elected. After elected, he's going to become this new breed of politician.
