Please, explain why they're a "reasonable ally." They're not useful for anything but causing conflict.

They don't have terrorist cells or training grounds......they do whatever the US tells them to and they want to live a normal life......you think Isreal is the one always causing conflict?

What does history have to do with their current bully tactics? They were tragically targeted by Hitler. They didn't need to create a country around some silly holy city that's claimed by all Abrahamic religions.

This country used to stand for something in the world as a beacon of freedom and good. Contrary to what our education system teaches today, this country has done a lot of good in the world. We have many faults, but as a whole this is one of the greatest countries for good ever. We have and should continue to support countries that are free and help us stand against our enemies.

England, Canada, Sweden... Israel is not a country that helps us. Well, maybe their solar panel technology does a little bit.

Funny how the Israelis are surrounded by enemies that want them destroyed. When you treat your neighbors like crap, you get back what you give.

You forgot to add the part where their aggression towards other nations is Obama's fault. It's part of his conspiracy to take over the world along with taking our guns away and using the Black Panthers as his personal, stick-wielding army.

Are you really this ignorant? The Arabs hate the Jews because they've been treating them like crap? Brilliant.....

America cannot continue its stance with Israel nor any other country for that matter. We need to end all foreign aid, be it monetary or weapons. We simply cannot afford it any longer.
I am of the opinion we should encourage free trade with all and alliance with none.

Or a dumbass.. Why don't you explain why you don't like the only reasonable ally the US has in the Middle East? Let me guess..... Because you're young and don't know any better

I have a reason or two:

1) it costs way more money than it's worth.

2) **** any involvement with anything over there that isn't absolutely necessary... especially in the most divided country touching the Mediterranean.

Did I mention the fiscal black hole?

Then apparently you, me, Ahmadinejad, al-Qaeda and Hitler think alike.

Can't let this one slide - the last three are not just about letting Israel defend themselves. They all wanted the destruction of the Jewish state and people.

I'm pretty sure you aren't advocating that.

On side note, this is the first time I've seen anyone invoke the Godwin rule on themselves :)

Sometimes, you make alliances for reasons other than being friends. Would all of you argue that we let Tiawan fall to China?

I would argue that its not our place to police the world unilaterally, so I'm certainly against any military intervention if this did happen.

I guess we can't be as educated as you. I'm sure you'd like to lecture me on how the Jews in Israel have been perfect little angels within the Middle East in the last sixty years. I'm sure the Palestinians hate Israel just because its full of jews and not because Israel hasn't respected Palestine's borders and has railroaded a two state solution for so many years. Also, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the military occupation of what is rightfully Palestine's sovereign land.

I've got no problem with Israel. If they love that crappy dirtfarm that they've got, they're welcome to keep it. Just don't expect America to back you up, because a lot of us don't give a crap about the Middle East and want nothing to do with it.

You know I know this. :) It's maverick, so...

re: thread, there is a difference between isolation and non-intervention

I believe in Israel's right to exist and to defend themselves, I also believe their Arab population exists as a forced underclass and that their government is violating their natural rights as people.

So let China have Taiwan. What about China vs. Australia? Do we step in then or do we let the Aussies duke it out themselves?

The greatest satisfaction today over the re-election of Obama is not being felt in the Democratic Party. It is not being felt among the media, who are no longer objective observers but have turned instead into corrupt partisans who ruthlessly censored the truth about Obama and helped peddle his demonizing propaganda about his opponent. It is not being felt among the gloating, drooling decadents of the western left who now scent a great blood-letting of all who dare defy their secular inquisition. No, the greatest satisfaction is surely being felt in Iran.

With four more years of Obama in the White House, Iran can now be sure that it will be able to complete its infernal construction of a genocide bomb to use against the Jews and the west. World War Three has now come a lot closer.

It is said that, with likely gridlock in Congress over domestic issues, Obama will concentrate on foreign policy. We should all shudder. So far, Obama has empowered Iran to destabilize the region; supported Islamist takeovers in Egypt and Libya; is backing al Qaeda affiliates in Syria; refused to come to the aid of Americans being attacked by al Qaeda in Benghazi as a result of which four American officials were murdered; and hung Israel out to dry against its genocidal Palestinian attackers.

A report last month that Obama was secretly negotiating with the Iranian regime took on an even more incendiary aspect a few days ago with a claim that these negotiations were being led by his close friend and adviser, Valerie Jarrett.

If Jarrett was indeed involved, that should strike a deep chill into anyone who has not joined the lemming-like leap over the edge of the western cliff. For Iranian-born Jarrett – who Obama has admitted he consults before he takes any decision and who has been said to act as his ‘spine’ -- is a far-leftist with roots deep in the corrupt Chicago Democratic machine. Indeed, Jarrett has been credited with originally smoothing Obama’s entry into Chicago’s political elite, and is now said to be – despite her controversial background -- the most influential person in his circle.

There have also been claims that she advised Obama against killing Osama bin Laden, which although unsubstantiated are all too credible. If this wholly ill-equipped and sinister individual really has been leading secret negotiations with Iran – raising the fear that far from preventing Iranian nuclear terrorism Obama intends to allow the regime a face saving compromise under cover of which it will finish building its nuclear weapon – then Obama’s perfidy against the west really is as bad as some of us feared from the start.

Four years ago, America put into the White House a sulky narcissist with close links to people with a history of thuggish, far-left, black power, Jew-bashing, west-hating politics. In his autobiography, Obama himself described his mentor, the communist agitator Frank Marshall Davis, as being a promoter of black power; in 1995 Obama went on the Million Man March organized by the black power activist and radical antisemite Louis Farrakhan; for twenty years, Obama belonged to a church whose pastor, Jeremiah Wright, peddled antisemitic conspiracy theories, denounced black assimilation into white society and in June 2009 claimed that Jews were controlling Obama and were preventing Wright from talking to him.

Obama’s agenda has been crystal clear from the get-go: to increase the power of the state over the citizen at home, and to neutralize American power abroad. Four more years of this and he’ll almost certainly have succeeded. The impact upon western security could be cataclysmic.

Britain and the Europeans love Obama because they think he will end American exceptionalism and turn the US into a pale shadow of themselves. What they don’t realize is that, all but lobotomized by consumerist rights, state dependency, victim culture, sentimentality, post-religion, post-nationalism and post-Holocaust and Empire guilt, Britain and Europe are themselves fast going down the civilization tubes.

Romney lost because he refused to provide an alternative to any of this for fear of being labelled a warmonger, flint-heart or social reactionary. He refused to engage with any of the issues that made this Presidential election so truly momentous. Up against the bullying of the totalitarian left, he ran for cover. He played safe, and as a result only advertised his own weakness and dishonesty. Well, voters can smell inconsistency from a mile away; they call it untrustworthiness, and they are right.

Romney lost because, like Britain’s Conservative Party, the Republicans just don’t understand that America and the west are being consumed by a culture war. In their cowardice and moral confusion, they all attempt to appease the enemies within. And from without, the Islamic enemies of civilization stand poised to occupy the void.

With the re-election of Obama, America now threatens to lead the west into a terrifying darkness.

We should support the free country of Israel. They are surrounded by people who want them all dead and the world always condemns them when they respond to attacks? The media coverage of the middle east is as biased as MSNBC. Those same countries working against Israel are trying to bring us down as well in case you haven't noticed. Israel is our only true friend in the middle east and for that alone they deserve our help.

have you ever heard of the Lavon Affair incident? how about the attack on the USS Liberty in 1968? if not you should read up and tell me if Israel is our friend.

Very few people have heard of the first. Most folks are still making excuses for the second.

Nation states do not have friends; they have interests.

In before you libtards call this "fearmongering"...its the truth and you're all either too brainwashed or willfully ignorant and don't want to see it. May God have mercy on us all

Marcus I am astonished that you would post such a thing. Read your quoted post and ask yourself would Jesus approve.

Jesus said in Matthew 22
The Greatest Commandment

34*Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees,*the Pharisees got together.

35*One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:

36*“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37*Jesus replied:*“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

48*This is the first and greatest commandment.*

39*And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.

40*All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
