Obama orders investigation into Russian hacking of election

The real question is when Trump eventually has no choice but to accept the intelligence of Russian interference, does he double down on Hillary's emails via Twitter, launch in to a tirade against a magazine editor who criticized one of his restaurants or does he thank Putin?

I guess we'll have to cross that bridge if it ever gets built.

The great part is Obama, Hillary and the press have zero credibility with the majority of Americans but they can't comprehend it. Like when you cut the head off a chicken, it keeps running around wildly for 3 or 4 minutes without its head. I guess its 3 or 4 weeks with politicians?

Any hack is troubling and should be dealt with, but it's comical that people act like the information from the hack is either irrelevant or somehow inadmissible because it was exposed the wrong way.

A lot of Democrats and most of the media are still busy trying to discredit the election results without realizing that they are now displaying the exact behavior and miscalculation that created the result.

Really good point. Clinton and the DNC were exposed early and often for screwing Sanders out of a fair primary - it rings hollow for the D's to bellyache about being on the business end in the general.

Irrespective, if the Russians interfered there has to be consequences. I suppose we'll find out soon enough if the evidence supports the claims and what, if anything, tough talking Trump will be prepared to do to walk the walk.

He won't be able to blow off the intelligence, he's seen it - I can't imagine the GOP in Washington not backing him into a corner with looming confirmation hearings.

There will not be any evidence disclosed, this will be a "national security" issue and we'll just have to trust them. I for one would accept an official spokesperson from the CIA or other intel agency just going on record and saying the Russians were behind the DNC hacks. But that's not going to happen.

You're probably right, but does the POTUS coming out and explicitly stating the intel fingers Russia... That doesn't move the needle though, partisanship aside? Trumpdaddy will get the intel, if he attends the briefings - lets see where his twitter focus shifts. If it shifts from denial to deflection, we'll know.

If he doesn't attend, he still doesn't get briefed?

Gotcha :good!:

Obama could come out and say the sky is blue and I'd have to look myself.

Intelligence has been politicized to the point I do question findings especially those leaked by anonymous sources to MSM.

Lynch: No Evidence Of 'Technical Interference' From Russians | The Daily Caller

U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch stated Thursday that the United States intelligence community has not found any evidence of “technical interference” on the part of the Russian government on voting machines used in the 2016 election.

Lynch instead referred to Russia hacking into the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Question for the Left:

Are you just as mad, or close at least, that the Democratic party conspired to oust one of the candidates, a very popular one at that, running for your party?

I mean, what's worse? Another country influencing the election or your own government doing it?

Obama has a press conference planned for today. Rumors are flying

From what I am hearing, @POTUS has determined that orderly transition cannot be accomplished and is no longer priority due to Trump/Russia.

The party of Reagan is fast lurching into a mini-Cold War with itself -- this time over working with Russia rather than against it.

President-elect Donald Trump's affinity for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his denials that the Kremlin hacked the 2016 election are unleashing a feud in the GOP, which sees its hawkish history on Moscow and triumph over the Soviet Union as one of its defining achievements.

The turmoil is threatening to detract from one of the most crucial moments of Trump's early presidency -- the confirmation process for his nominee for Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who has a personal friendship with Putin and opposed US sanctions on Russia imposed after the Kremlin's annexation of Crimea.

The idea that Russia may not pay a price for the startling allegation of seeking to undermine American democracy with a series of cyber breaches is infuriating some senior Republicans, and putting even those less hostile to Trump in a tough political spot.

"I can't imagine I would vote for anybody that believes that we should not sanction Russia, given the fact that they did in fact interfere in our election," South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on the "Situation Room" on Wednesday.

Maybe it's the wording of how this is being addressed in headlines, but when they say Russian hack to influence the election they are referring to Russia hacking the DNC and exposing the behind the scenes workings and attitudes and not Russia hacking voting machines and the actual election voting apparatus right?

No chance in hell they clarify that in the headlines.

True, but it's very misleading to say that Russia hacked the election when they instead hacked the DNC. Hell, most of Western Europe was trying to "influence" the election by being outspokenly pro-Hillary.

Who is this dude?

IF Obama were to come out and pull a stunt like this (which he wont) better hide the wives and children because it's going to get bumpy.

One of 300 million + twitter users who people can now point to as a "source".

Really, Lindsey Graham?

Can't you see what this really is? It's a coordinated effort by the left and establishment people like Graham to neuter the Trump administration before it ever takes office. Even if Russia hacked the DNC and provided the emails to Wiki, it's a far fetched assumption that Trump or his team were in on it in any way.

An arsonist burns down your primary competition and you benefit from it. Are you guilty of something?

Gotta love the lunacy of the uber right conspiracy theorists.

More likely, Obama will detail findings of report that Russia hacked the DNC and gave it to Wikileaks to affect the election. He will announce sanctions against Russia, having warned them about this back in September.

This will be awkward for Tillerson, who is against sanctioning his close friends and business partners in Russia, including Putin.

The words people use matter. What does "hacked the election" mean?

I believe the consensus is that the Russians conspired to interfere with the election by facilitating the release of information that would sway public opinion.

Whether one agrees with the results of possible interference should be secondary to the fact that the Presidential Election for the United States may have been influenced towards the benefit of a global adversary. In other words, even if you're happy about the results - America still got punked.

This he will not do, he will at most parrot the running headlines and expect us to believe him. No details will be given, if he was going to give details the PC would be prime time and not at 2:15 when few will be watching.

The rest is plausible.
