O-Line Starting 5 Predictions

One thing's for sure. I've learned more about OLine play this off-season than ever before. Clear sign of how critical these guys are to the entire team's success in '15.

O-Line: the guys few pay attention to ... unless things aren't going well.

Still a few years away from have a dominate line .. Our upperclassman are average players

The guy has not played in 2 years and some are calling him to replace last years starter, one of which was a FR AA.. Not going to happen
He has not played in one year.

Especially since the head coach has said he is going to look at him at DL first:

“Because of our overall depth in the defensive front, we’re gonna look at him on the defensive line first. If that doesn’t materialize, then we’ll look to play him on the offensive line. But Charles is a very, very talented young man, and we’re gonna first look to put him in a position to compete at defensive line and go from there.

“If that doesn’t work out, he’ll be able to move to the offensive line immediately and compete.”

Frankly don't think the staff really knows what they have in Mosley yet. So it makes perfect sense to go ahead and pencil him as an ALL SEC offensive lineman here
All SEC OL would be a stretch.

I can't disagree strongly enough with this.

Mosley came in as an overweight project and then broke his leg. He's been unable to receive the full benefit of a year in the S&G program so he's probably at about the same level as when he arrived. If you've been paying attention, you know we've become deep and strong on the DL.

If Mosley can get healthy and commit himself to reshaping his body, then hopefully he can become a contributor at some point in 2016 and beyond.

If he stays on the DL he will contribute in 2015.

Crowder might keep his job, but he's way too undersized

lol - in your perfect world of picking 'your' Center - How BIG would you want him? At 6'2.5" 295 lbs. that's actually a prime model of a center, a body type that for years in the NFL has been the preference. What type of O-line are you trying to build coach? I think I've read multi-posts by you where you continue to insist this.

I'm hoping they can keep the freshmen red shirts intact ,unless one of them really stands out,we all know that it takes a year or two, to be ready to play in the SEC

I try not to put a lot of faith in a freshmen being able to be dominant with out a year learning what to do and being in the weight room

Richmond will start at LT by Oct
I agree with this. I routinely see frosh starting at Bammer & UGA on the OL, granted they tend to be elite players. Richmond is in that category and if he is the real deal he has to be on the field, the sooner the better.

Weisman is an interior lineman. I can't see a scneario where he plays tackle.

Basing this primarily on what I would expect them to do, not what I think they should do.

They liked Wiesman enough to take his commitment twice and have advertised he can play all spots on UT sports so I'd expect them to try and jam him in somewhere based on "experience".

I'd rather see Kendrick, Richmond, and Blair fight it out for the tackle spots.

Agree totally. All coaches tend to be risk averse when it comes to young players at the tackle spots.

Not a prediction but my line up in order to be effecient:
1. They are working Kyler at LT because they don't know what Blair or Richmond can do yet.

2. Jackson will be All-Sec Guard next year (not athletic enough for outside)

Anyway, here it is: (This is predicting what I have seen of all players: college or jr. college or hs)

LT: Blair/Richmond
LG: Jackson/Kerbyson
C: Crowder/Thomas
RG: Robertson/Weismen
RT: Kendrick/Jones

Realistically:

LT: Kerbyson/Richmond
LG: Jackson/Wiesmen
C: Crowder/Thomas
RG: Robertson/SAnders
RT: Blair/Kendrick or reversed

I agree w/ your "realistic" lineup. One of the biggest advantages an OL has is continuity, so keeping Kerb in there makes a ton of sense, unless he completely gets beat out; and you have to imagine that the hope is Blair pans out as hoped, but we've already seen that Butch will play the best, period.

I'll add this, if Blair plays as great as is hoped, he could slide to LT and Kerb then over to RT. Finally, I would imagine that the hope is Richmond can be RS, but as we saw last year, Butch will play whoever gives us the best chance, to include Richmond or Kendrick.

After a winter in the weight room, I think overlooking Thomas as an option at tackle might be a mistake. I expect him to be much improved technically and much stronger.

I would tend to agree with you, certainly his best position is OG, but it's clear for one reason or another that the coaches think he's an OT at this point. It could be just a "spring" deal, but that doesn't seem likely either as I believe they said he's at OT and others are where they are to get lots of reps at positions they'll be playing.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with Thomas, I'm a fan of his. I actually agree with you, but still not sure if he has the athleticism to play OT (he was recruited to play interior right?). Could he end up being RS this year? Remember Butch did this type of thing w/ Jackson too 2 years ago (I think).

Blair or Richmond should be able to win the job... Kerbyson simply can not handle a speed rush

Hoping RS candidates are Boulware and Stewart. Those guys are no where close to being SEC ready but I think Boulware will be a quality guard along with Stewart at G or C. Need to recruit some T for 2016 badly.

We are also back to a reqular looking SEC OL depth chart by class... Dooley was a disgrace in OL and DL recruiting

you need to go bakc and reread the post u are replying to.. you got it wrong.

Not disagreeing with you but someone interviewed Kerbyson within the last few weeks. He said specifically that he was happier this year because they were working him as a tackle without moving him around. He also said he was working at LT.

I'd love to think you are right but it sounds like he will be an OT.

Based on everything we've heard the past few days, right now it's looking pretty much like:

LT -- Kerbyson / Jones / (with Richmond incoming)
LG -- Jackson / Wiesman
C -- Crowder / Thomas
RG -- Robertson / Sanders
RT -- Kendrick / Hall / Thomas / (with Richmond incoming)

Still all of spring and summer to go, though, a lot could change before September.

Swain just said he thinks Richmond starts at LT... Tifwiw, jmo, irs, uoeno, sob, tcb, stfu, byob, bff, brb, omg, idk, fubar....
