O-Line Starting 5 Predictions

I'm not sure who will make up our entire OL, but I'll make a wild guess and say one of our true freshman will be starting. It may take 2-3 games before one claims a starting spot, but I believe it will happen. Richmond and Jones talents may not be able to be denied. They will get theirs.

You think Richmond comes in this summer and takes a tackle spot?

I edited my original post after you quoted me, but I believe Richmond or Jones will eventually overtake one of our starters. If they're as good as advertised, they could be just as good if not already better than some of our returning OL. It may just take them a few games to take a starting spot. This is just wild speculation by me though, nothing more than that. I'm not going on anything other than a gut feeling.

If Richmond was a EE I think think he would take the LT spot and anchor it from game one. If he can digest the playbook in time he still may be able to. Physically he looks ready.

Let's not make this crazier than it is. Not much will change from ladt year other than Gilliam. Here are the starters and backups in parenthesis.

LT- Blair (Richmond)
LG- Jackson (Sanders)
C- Crowder (Weisman)
RG- Robertson (Kerbyson)
RT- Kerbyson (Thomas or Jones)

Blair will never start btw.
Really hoping you're wrong about this. I'd like to think our staff if they saw him as a bust, would not have RSed him last year and found a way for him to hit the highway. Keeping a bust around 3 years rather than 2 max, just does not seem to be a mistake this staff would make IMO.

Blair is currently number 3 at RT on the pre spring depth chart behind Coleman Thomas and Jack Jones. That is an indication of what the coaches think of him.

You've been correct on everything to this point. Do you see us struggling again at OL?

Yup, that's why I changed my original statement to a few games into the season.

I think that you may see Thomas push Crowder b4 its all over. I would really like to see Kendricks get out of the doghouse also, I think he can contribute right away.

Tackles are still a huge concern. The interior should be solid. Hopefully Richmond lives up to his hype and can take one of the tackle spots. Kerbyson would be an excellent guard, but is having to play out of position. Kendrick has some ability. Will have to see if Jones can be a tackle or will he have to move inside. I think/hope DeBord will gameplan around the OT's better than Jake did.

Ok based on this update (thanks BM!), I'm flip-flopping Kendrick and Blair's spots on the two-deep. Understand the rest of what you said, Bob, but there's still a lot of spring and summer to play out before I go putting Jones at tackle instead of guard. So my list now looks like:

LT -- Kerbyson // Richmond
LG -- Jackson // Wiesman
C -- Crowder // Thomas
RG -- Robertson // Jones
RT -- Kendrick // ?? // Blair

Cheers!

I'm going to take the optimistic approach that last year's Linemen make significant improvement, allowing 15 recruits to redshirt as they should for a developmental position.

LT: Blair
LG: Jackson
C: Crowder
RG: Robertson
RT: Kendrick

Sanders, Kerbyson, Raulerson with depth and rotation. Note: Kerbyson can play anywhere and start anywhere.

Richmond, J. Jones, Bouleware, Hall, C. Thomas and Wiesman all get the redshirt season they need for development.

Plan B:

LT: J.Jones/Kerbyson
LG: Jackson/Wiesman
C: C. Thomas/Crowder
RG: Robertson/Raulerson
RT: Mosely/Richmond/Kendrick

Daniel Lewis has also said as much. Dear God, what happened here??

Based on what I've read and some quotes from Mueller and others (LWSVol, if not mistaken), this one is the closest so far. I'd only see a few differences on the depth chart. So I'm gonna go with:

LT - Kerbyson, Richmond
LG - Jackson, Weisman, Sanders
C - Crowder, Thomas
RG - Robertson, Weisman, Raulerson
RT - Kendrick, Jones, Blair/Thomas

I'm not sure Crowder will start. He got blown off the ball quite a bit and needs to add some strength.

I don't think either one will be physically strong enough yet.
