There is great question about the offensive and defensive lines, particularly on the offensive side of the ball where Jashon Robertson has battled multiple ailments throughout the season's first half and, as some folks told us, "practically lived in the training room the past two weeks."

It isn't likely to be enough to put Robertson in a position to even be considered be highly questionable for Saturday's game against the Tide. Robertson has a lingering ankle and knee issue.

It's an extremely similar situation for redshirt-sophomore right tackle Brett Kendrick, praised by coaches for a new level of toughness in recent weeks as the Knoxville native has sought to battle through an elbow injury that's likely to ultimately require surgery. But Kendrick's had a rough week, health-wise, on the practice field and the Vols continue to see the injury bug be a very real factor for a team that still has a predominantly young and inexperienced roster.

So with that in mind, look for a Tennessee rotation along its offensive front that largely consists of Kyler Kerbyson, Dylan Wiesman, Coleman Thomas, Jack Jones, Mack Crowder and Chance Hall. Any rotation beyond that likely has Charles Mosley in an emergency situation.

Don't know what it is with the injuries this year, but it's pretty much torpedoed the season from being a great one. May need to look at a new strength and conditioning guy, tone down practices, or both. Pisses me off that Butch babbled on about being full speed other than Tuttle and now we get this report.

Our offensive took off when we put in Jones and Hall. Missing Jashon hurts because he's our best offensive lineman, but no doubt in my mind Hall and Jones should be in there and starting.

Imagine when Richmond gets stronger how good they will be next year, especially as Thomas continues to develop at center.

Realistically our best 5 will be playing Saturday minus Jashon. No Kendrick or Crowder is addition by subtraction IMO. Hall and Jones should start the rest of the year. They're better than the guys they replaced.

I'm amazed at how many people think the solution to injuries is a new strength and conditioning coach. It's football. Every roster has injuries, you're just living in a UT bubble.

First, Jones and Hall did play well for the most part... 90% of the time but that's what back-ups do. It's the few plays that a back-up gets wrong that can kill you. Dontavious Blair looks good on some plays he's just not consistent. It also helps an OL when the coach starts letting your QB pass downfield a little instead of hitch routes every other pass play. Again, a ton of credit to the freshmen but it would be amazing for them to have a "good" game if they play 4 qtrs against Bama's DL. Flame away but that's the truth of this situation.

Some people mistakenly believe that a new coach is the answer to every injury, every mistake that is made on the field, etc. They forget that there are two teams in the same field in a fierce physical competition.

We're better with a true freshmen than we are with Crowder. He just keeps getting exposed. That fumble against UGA? Yep. Crowder double teamed the tackle on his left and let Floyd run unblocked right up the middle. That fumble all started with him and Jalen had no shot. It was well blocked besides that.

I keep hearing that rationale. So if they start and get smacked around, it's a different kind of beating than we've seen the last 10 years? Wiesman and Kendrick getting dominated means something different...favorable wise? Play the best players...only way to do things.

But?...that was a VASTLY EXPERIENCED missed block? :thud:

I only notice how our players look at the end of games when judging conditioning. They're not heaving as in years past...and that dates back to the Fulmer years. Lawson has the athletes ready...physically and mentally. If anything needs to change, Butch has to look at position coaches and practice.

I dont know how people can say our best 5 lineman include the two freshman on the right side. Correct me if Im wrong, but with Kendrick and Wiseman on the right side we were averaging 230ish yards rushing per game thru 5 games. Thats pretty dang good. Yes, the lineup in the second half with Jones and Hall on the right side worked well, but thats just 1 half of a game. I'll take 5 games of production over a half. I could be wrong but saying they should start the rest of the year based off one half is a little crazy to me.

Wanna see crazy? Look at Dobbs stats that game! And his last TD run! Play the best players.

I've never understood why anyone believes a coach wouldn't play the players he believes give us the best chance to win. Do people really believe coaches have a mentality of " X is better than Y, but gosh I like Y better so I'm going to play him"?

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. The ball was 1/2 foot from the goal line. GA had a nose head-up over the center. We come out in Shotgun (Shotgun from the 1/2 foot line). Jack Jones (Freshman Volnation fav) has the LB, Floyd responsibility who shows he is rotating to his right, our left. Our Freshman right guard has the responsibility to make the call that the LB just rotated to the right side to inform the Center and Left Guard. That call never came from our Freshman. Therefore our Left Guard blocks out instead of in to close the gap. The Center does what a Center does at the 1/2 foot line when in a head up Nose situation. The Fumble happened due to an idiot coach that lined up in a Shotgun from the 1/2 foot line and due to a Freshman not making a Line of Scimmage call. It's that simple. For you to disparage our Senior Center is showing how ignorant you are and for Butchnut to comment further shows how ignorant he is.

Oh? Before I forget...Eazy?...Crowder 5 alert. :shhh:
