NYC Ball Drop Ceremony

I was in NYC a few months ago for work walking through Times Square. I had been there before but hadn't taken a moment to actually look up and find the ball. It is amazing how tiny it appears from street level; the cameras zoom in on the NYE shows and make it look like huge, massive flashing light.

A co-worker told me that being in TS on NYE was about the most overrated activity on the planet, which I can absolutely see. I haven't done it though.

I was always surprised at all the Applebees, Chili's, TGI Fridays, etc. and how packed they are. People spending all that money to go to NYC to eat at Chili's just floors me.

Harumph! I agree with the usually moronic and unliked Septic. This may be the stye of VN...but it's our stye dadgummit.

Lol. Yeah. Septic is unliked amidst a sea of fringe newcomers and posters with daddy issues who think Hillary is a Lizardperson hellbent on taking over the planet earth with gender neutralizing laser guns that spread Sharia law.

It's because 95% of the people in Times Square are tourists, often families with younger kids, and they either don't know any better or need to go to a restaurant that the kids will like. People who live in NYC detest Times Square, and I can see why. Depending on where you work/live you might have to walk through there everyday, and basically 24 hours a day it is jam packed with out-of-towners standing around, loitering, and looking up.

And I'm also with you on eating at chain restaurants when you go out of town. I find the other extreme (hipsters/excessively trendy people who are quick to tell you how much they hate chain restaurants) to be really obnoxious too, but it blows my mind when people go out of town and eat at a place they can eat at back home.

I'd rather keep my free will and not be able to delete posts as a mod. But I guess you're super-duper special now you super special moderator. Congrats!! The ability to delete posts that you don't agree with. Wowsers!! :superman:

I mean are you trying to threaten me by claiming you'll delete my posts if they don't agree with your own personal agenda?

How is that remotely respectful?
Lol... How did I miss this gem a couple of days ago?
