Nya Robertson to Tennessee!

When a team loses over 20 games, and the offensive leader (voted second team ACC) can expect to receive the most defensive emphasis. Not to many open threes, or forgotten on offense. She will be a senior, who has experience, AND I'm sure has a desire to help in anyway possible the TEAM win, after the year she has just endured.

and for those who watch short clips to make their assessments, PS they never focus on defense.

I am going to trust the coaches. Yes, I would have loved to see a rock star signing but this young lady does have some upsides, because speed in the right package can be a dangerous thing for opposing teams. CKC has at least three more slots to fill, lets see what she does. Have faith!

Ok, thought I saw 18.5 points per game last season. I could be mistaken.
Indeed.
While shooting 32.5%, 31.6% from 3, and 76.6% at the line. 18 shots a game to get there.
Jewel shot 40.9%, 37.9% from 3, and 87.7% from the line. Oh, and averaged over 18 herself at Wake Forest.

Here are the SMU team stats for 2024-2025 season (along with career stats). While Robertson leads the team in scoring by a whole lot, I'm paying close attention to the number of shots taken compared to other players and the field goal percentage -though she does shoot a lot of threes. Free throw shooting is decent. For a small guard, assists are extremely low. Assist turnover ratio is concerning. She'll obviously be playing a completely different role at TN than she did at SMU. Hopefully, she will be a team player for the Lady Vols.

lol. And here I thought a Sweet 16 and a UConn win would earn Caldwell a little bit of public opinion rope to work with in the off-season. Mmm mmm. Silly me.
Hope you weren't referring to me. I was responding to Clad in Big Orange's statement that she seems like an upgrade from Spears. I closed with: "Having said that: I trust Kim to get the best out of her."

From an outside perspective, it seems like an odd first pick-up. When it comes to small, quick guards who are inconsistent shooters, the LVs are pretty well covered. A mobile post seems like the more pressing need.

My read is that the staff knows something we don't. My guess is that there is uncertainty around Wynn's recovery from her Achilles' rupture. If you assume that Wynn might not be fully ready for some significant part of next season, then this signing makes a lot of sense.
I prefer not to run off players who got injury while at Tennessee.
Like that Kim hasn't run off any injured players.
And If Wynn 100 % great.
If not it should be her choice stay or go.

Asking a hold over from a previous head coach who was healthy no major injury's while at university is different.
If new coach asks them moved on.
Not as bad a look.
As kicking a injured players off of scholarship.

Mud,

No one said anything about "running Wynn off." The reality is that an Achilles rupture is a very significant injury and she may not be 100% at the start of the next season and may have limitations, which means there would be a need for additional depth at the guard spot.

I know no one said cut Wynn lose.
Just saying I like that Kim didn't cut Wynn lose.

Tell us what ya think of Coach Kenny Brooks, @mudcat1973😉🤙🏼
It was sort of implied.
Since I posted a thread about Cassidy Rowe situation.
And the way Cassidy Rowe hurt twice while practicing or playing for Kentucky.
When you get hurt at work people get workman's compensation.
And after I talked up his offense during the season.
He blindsided a player to late for her to switch university if she wanted to because it was past time to sign up for physical therapy classes.
Leaving Cassidy Rowe - family to pay for her senior year of college.
Think the least Kentucky could do is pay for a scholarship.
And Kenny Brooks should be one the first telling the prisedent since he made the mess.
Give her a scholarship equal to what was took from her.

And he wants to talk about family and blue tears.
What that saying friends like that.
who needs enemies.

Kentucky had any integrity they tell Cassidy Rowe her scholarship and housing was being paid for by the university.

And if Kentucky wildcat women's basketball is truly about family they would go one step better and tell Cassidy Rowe she didn't lose her scholarship because of injury's to her knees knee.
And they made huge mistake and their sorry.

Welcome Nya! Saw some good critiques and evals of this player on here. Should be able to do well on this team with the uptempo and getting to the lane (it’s nice to have a good FT shooter that likes to drive). She will need to improve her shooting percentage while she is here (or we will have to get significantly better at offensive rebounding 🙂).This could be fixed with more attention on other players and her having more time to take other shots. Either way welcome and excited to welcome a new LV!

With that said I hope we land another 2-3 players and we get a combo or size and efficiency to add to this group.
