They’re keeping a failed coaching staff for now 3 years too long.

It’s amazing. If they hadn’t stumbled onto Pete Carroll, they would be in about a 40-yr slump.

3 years might be a stretch. They were in the Cotton Bowl and a top 10 team in 2017.

Problem is that recruits viewed Helton as a dead man walking after 2018. It's not when the fanbase says "fire the coach" that you have to fire the coach. It's when recruits say it.

For instance, a lot of Clemson fans wanted Dabo fired back in 2010, but he had a top 10 recruiting class. Turns out the recruits were right about him, which isn't always the case, but IMO it's the real indicator of when a coach should be fired. And I have nothing against Helton, but the recruits said he should've been fired last year, and it doesn't appear they've changed their mind this year.

At this point, Helton could be one of the best coaches in CFB, but if he's recruiting at the bottom of the Pac-12 at USC, he's done for. The USC AD is just delaying the inevitable. You should never, ever be outside the top 20 in recruiting at USC.

if it means he already signed, and he's going the "gonna keep it quiet" route, i think we've already determiend that's not gonna work.

i don't see the point in saying "im not signing" only to cryptically announce "i've signed", and not announce it....either way, the schools that he didn't sign with know it's not them, and you'd be able to tell who those programs are by what they do next.

anyway....i think if he does sign this week, he does it a al Q Crouch last year, or he's doing what he said and not signing.

but, we're on a message board. so.....it is what it is.

Yup, as a head football coach, recruiting is directly correlated to at least 60% of the success you will have at the job. Look at the class ratings from this year alone, all of the heavy hitters are perched at the top of the rankings. Even the best x's-and-o's mind at head coach can't do anything about lining up against a roster stacked with future pros. And for a guy like Helton at a major program like that laying that kind of egg in recruiting... Yikes....

If he’s been a Georgia lean all this time then there’s literally no reason to drag this out any longer.

Not to mention there’s plenty of negative recruiting that Pruitt & Neids could have told him about Georgia on his visit.

Maybe he’s really got something to think about which is why he’s yet to sign.
