Number of OU fans at game

There's always one or two posters from every team we play that are great, and usually stuck around for a while afterwards. But as you stated, most begin to wear out their welcome around this time of the week every year.

Not sure if anyone else has visited the sooner forums, but volnation is more than hospitable compared to those a$$hats over there.

I've heard it could be uproots of 20-30 thousand. Won't mess up the checkerboard, but with the hype around the team, and being a top 25 traditional power matchup, this might be the most traveling Sooners for a road game ever. The whole "Booooooomer" and "Soooooonneer" thing will get old quick, too.

If y'all bring 30,000 then my hat is off to you

No doubt. We've had a few morons get riled up here because the OU posters pick their own team, but it's nothing compared to a few of the Sooner boards.

I didn't make an account but I've lurked on land thieves. One of the cockiest, unknowledgable groups I can remember on the forums. And that says A LOT when you play bama and UF yearly haha

I have a house in Dallas where ther are many Sooner fans. Last year was tough to sit at the bar and hear Boomer Sooner. Overall Sooners though are very decent and respectful fans. I hope we treat them well in Knoxville.

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that no tickets were returned. They were only $105 so not even as expensive as texas tickets. There will be more fans than most who post on this thread want. I'm here because I have wanted to see Neyland since the 70's. I am puzzled as to why most posters on this site have such contempt for Oklahoma and our fan base. It might be that you don't realize how condescending most of the posts are. All fan bases have their fare share of young caustic posters, but very few show any respect for Oklahoma football or their fans. I am obviously not a young buck if I remember Johnny Majors coaching Tennessee. If I had not come to Volnation I might still have my warm fuzzy feeling about coming here, but I did, so I don't. Regardless of the outcome of the game, I think I may have lost the only sec team that didn't turn my stomach.

Good thing you're not headed to Gainesville or Athens tomorrow.

I expect most OU fans will be treated very well tomorrow.

I went on Landthieves. They made jokes about Pat Summit's having alzheimer's. It wasn't cool at all,

I saw that too. That's as low class as it gets. As someone who's family has been affected by that disease, it's an extremely offending comment.

Man I leave this board just to drive over from Nashville and things go to hell in a hand bag. Sitting on the houseboat now and I can hardly wait for tomorrow.

Im not a fan of a conference. I'm a fan of the most storied program of the modern era, and when **** gets bad I'm not chanting a conferences name or banging my chest about others accomplishment

Oklahoma is the most storied program in modern era?????

C'Mon man..... Not even close!!!

:snoring:

I hope there are lots of Sooner fans there to witness this ass-whipping! The local bars will rake in the cash hand over fist when the Sooner fans go to drown their tears in their beers.

If it's any consolation, you've been one of the best OU and out of conference posters we've had on here. I hope you enjoy the day tomorrow and if I'm down by the river I'll give ya a holler

I know I'm in the vast minority here, but.... Screw OU and everything they stand for. I hope the fans and team go thru 3 hours of living hell Saturday. It's nothing personal, I just want opposing fans and teams to fear coming to our stadium. 103k all in Orange sounds fantastic. Oh, and all you OU fans have your players to blame for any inhospitable behavior. They shouldn't have slammed UT fans. This is a rowdy, football living group.

THANK YOU! i don't understand some posters on here saying things like: "let's make sure we show the Sooners some southern hospitality!" " let's treat them with great respect like they did to us in Norman!" Are you kidding me?? I have a lot of things on my list to do tomorrow but making sure the Sooners trip to Knoxville is fun and wonderful is not one of them. WE ARE TENNESSEE opposing fans should not want to to come Knoxville. Listen, you guys saying you want to treat them so great are the same ones that complain about how many opposing fans we have at games. If we made it hell on them then they wouldn't travel so well to neyland. Look at UF last year! There was like 500 of them. And let me add that giving them hell does NOT consist of spitting on them or throwing things. It means yelling GO VOLS in their face or calling them Oklahomos, etc..

And your smartasses on here have done the same for us. They're not representative of what I witnessed in Norman last year, unless everyone put on a facade. However, I love how an opposing fan comes on our board to tell us how wrongly we've "behaved" and then proceeds to do the same thing.

Try to hang on to those Norman memories. It just kills me how so many people can give our fan base a bad name to the extent that opposing fans are often shocked by how nice we are in and around the stadium on game day. I don't know where these people come from and I can't stand them. Thanks for being patient with us, Vols! And cheers to all you real Sooners! Boomer.

Thank you for the fine announcement there, Bill Callahan. I knew you were canned at Nebraska.

500 UF fans??? at Neyland?? Good GAWD...the audacity!

I take all of this with a grain of salt. Ya wanna get rowdy, huh?? We know rowdy! Work your way on down to Commerce Street in Dallas before an OU-Texas game and wear some orange, any orange. Then you'll see rowdy. LOL

Fair... Not fare. It's the night before game day on a rival board. Hope you enjoy Knoxville. Its a wonderful place. When you are used to game day in Norman there are few places that can compare. Knoxville is one of them. I hope you are treated well and enjoy it.

You don't have to be rude to their fans to create a hostile environment for their team.

Show class - don't be an @$$

Exactly. People DO realize that when opposing fans come to Knoxville they also bring their wallets right? Geez I'll never understand the "we want fans to dread coming to Neyland" mentality. Of course you want to be loud and rowdy INSIDE Neyland but outside Neyland, every local Knoxville native should be happy that opposing fans come and spend their dollars in their community.
