We get 41 yards with Nukeese at QB from the get go. Then we had a total of 9 yards through most of the first half by Crompton. Why don't we just put Nukeese in at Qb? He was a pretty good passer in highschool if you watch his film. We would atleast have a running option with him behind center. I wouldn't have us run your standard offense like we do now, maybe run the wildcat 70% of the time, and a regular offense 30% of the time. But keep Nuke in there. He would be capable of throwing a limited number of times.

I just don't understand how we don't try and switch something up. Obviously its not working right now. The reason I start this thread is because everyone is hating on Stephens, saying he is worse than Crompton. So here is another option.

Absolutely! For the life of me, I can't understand how Nuke can break off a 41 yard run with 14:55 to go in the first quarter, and we never see that again.

I brought my girlfriend to Knoxville for the first time (she's a Clemson grad)...we had a blast..she knows nothing about this team outside of a brief tutorial I've given her when she watches games with me. She kept asking me in the second half, "Do you think we'll see Nuke again? That was awesome at the start of the game!"

I agree about trying anything different. Our offense is just not getting it done with Crompton right now. We have nothing to lose and I don't want to hear Crompton is the best we have crap. Try anything for God sakes.

Insanity is trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result

I think the offense is making progress. It's hard to fathom exactly how baaaaad this team has been. No pics is progress. I think the staff is going with our BEST option rather than "just something different". Sometimes is just come down to the idea that if you cant win with your bread and butter you just cant win.

Maybe they just want to use the play once a game. If that's the reason, maybe use it in the red zone?

hmm...nuke does not throw from that formation. So Auburn stacks the box and we end losing yards...

The box was stacked when Nuke ran for 41 yards, too. They knew that wasn't going to be a pass-play.

Glad Kiffin sold him on that early playing time. Too bad for Nuke "early" meant only the first plays of the game.

I think it's in the best interest of the team and the program, to continue to install the offense and try to improve.

Even with a total overhaul to the wildcat or wishbone, UT's not going to win anything of significance this year.

We may as well get the offense installed, give recruits a chance to see what it'll look like, at least theoretically, and build some offensive continuity as we move toward 2010 and beyond.

Richardson at quarterback isn't going to disguise our problems along the offensive line...and it's certainly not going to cure our inability to develop a vertical passing game.

He's a pretty slow runner anyone else would of out ran that safety for a TD

he wasn't the fastest player on the field but angles make a big difference. Someone finishes their block and that's a td anyway

Its very easy to throw from the wild cat formation, and I also said you could run a regular offense for maybe 30% of the time. Which we would throw out of.

Nuke is a formidable passer. Look at his highlight tapes from HS.

Monte should teach Lane all about the Wishbone.

I think it would be really fun to see the VOLS run the wishbone. :dance2:

trivia.. what team has led the NCAA in rushing the last 2 years? What kind of offense did they have?

We tricked Auburn and caught them off-guard thinking we were still waiting for Crompton to come on the field. I'm going to say they might not have been caught off-guard if we just continued to run it.

You can't say the competition in those films are the same between the two. I think Pahokee has better competition to play than Crompton's HS.

But touche`.

It's not about doing what it takes to pull out a winning season this year. Anyone can look at our team and tell we are not championship bound. Kiffin is implementing our offense and getting things ready for when we can be expected to compete for championships.

GT.

However, UF is leading the nation in rushing this year. :dance2:

We have a coach that is stubborn to the point of losing games.

All the "I'll be happy as long as the team gets better" people should be piling off the wagon. This team is not being coached to its potential in any area. It's been a slow regression. I'll let the defense off the hook since their's is due to injury. But the offense and special teams are looking worse every week.
