Nsd

BTW, today is also the most confident I have ever seen Brent in regards to Gabe Wright. He basically said that everyone he has talked to today has said Auburn is scared to death of losing him to Tennessee tomorrow.

The perfect finish would be Tiny, Dawson, Maggitt, and one of Timmy/Gabe.

That finish would cause us to have to drop or grayshirt somebody, but I'm sure the coaches have a contingency plan for wild success.

But any three of those five would be wonderful. Ideal is Tiny, Timmy, and Dawson, IMO.

You do realize that Tiny and Richardson are the same person right?

I agree with him. I think we get Tiny, but not Richardson and I feel pretty good about Dawson, but not Lamar.

They would take both for sure. But they aren't getting both DT's. Just getting one would be a huge coup. I doubt they have a realistic chance with Jernigan.

I totally disagree. You don't take an official visit to a school the last weekend before NSD if you aren't seriously considering them. I'm pretty sure he goes to FSU, but I think he's seriously thinking about us.

Fellow Vols! I', Long time lurker on VN and Vol alum class of '98.. First post, be gentle..

So I've been looking at the recruiting rankings and few things struck me as lacking.

1. The rankings reward teams with higher star counts yet they do not address actual team needs.

For example, a running football team gets 10 5-Star and 10 4-Star wide receivers and shoots to the top of the rankings. Yet if they don't have other role players, they're screwed even statistically they have the top ranked recruiting class.

2. The difference in Stars could be a decimal point difference. For example, on Rivals, Marlin Lane is a 5.8 4-Star and Tommy Smith is a 5.7 3-Star. That decimal point difference is a whole Star difference between the 2players.

So I created this spreadsheet to count all committed prospects by rating numbers, not by stars to see where we fit vs other SEC schools. As of today, boy do they look good..

Quarterback - 4th
Running Back - 1st (need)
Offensive Line - 1st (need)
Defensive Line - 1st (need)
Linebackers - 2nd
Secondary - 1st (need)
Athletes - 1st
Wide Receivers - too many out there, didn't include in spreadsheet. We're good at wideout so that's not a concern.

Couldn't create a new thread because this is my first post. Hope this gives us more hope for tomorrow!

Go Vols!

Although we might not be top 10 on paper when it is all said and done, what we're doing is filling needs. It's something that needed to be done badly, and the staff is doing a very good job at it.

Didn't Tiny just get back from the Barn then?

wouldn't that be something to be concerned about???

Not just recruiting bodies, recruiting capable bodies. There's a lot of talent in this class.

Its been said since the end of last year's class that this class would be heavy on positions of need--that don't necessarily do much for recruiting rankings but do a TON for your team, i.e. OL & DL.

Just look at a few of Fulmer's last classes....he did an awful job at filling needs, especially the lines.

If my predictions are correct we already have a numbers issue. Sounds like it is gonna get worse. I love it. Here's what I had going into the final week and I am confident about the rest.

Byron Moore - Committed
Cameron Clear - Committed
Antonio Richardson - Vol
Lamar Dawson - Vol
Curt Maggitt - Vol

Now if we get anything more than that, I will be surprised. But I'll take it!:)

I'd love to add a DT to that list....but I'd be giddy with that type of finish.

Exactly! Most people understand this concept, but some still do not. Our program is not at the point where we can just recruit talent over need like Alabama is doing. Dooley has executed it perfectly this recruiting season by filling in needs and getting talented guys to fill in those needs.
