I know some find it hard to believe that our coaches may be sitting on some silent commits. They think it doesn't make sense because coaches should want recruits to announce to attract other recruits & build momentum. I understand that line of thinking but I actually think this staff is indeed sitting on some silents in order to maximize exposure for UT on nsd as well as generate buzz among fans & the '14 recruits.

I keep thinking about this quote from the kicker commit Andrew Gantz:

"Just wait to be pretty surprised on signing day. We already got (MarQuez) North last night at wide receiver — that was a pretty big commitment — and coach (Butch) Jones is one of the best recruiters in the country. I think everyone's going to be pretty surprised with what happens on Wednesday, if everything lines up like it's supposed to be."

I also keep thinking about what Bellamy said after his OV to UT. He said something like (this isn't an exact quote) "I know if I chose UT there will be some big names coming with me." Then said "I mean some big names."

These things as well as the rumor of the coaches receiving three commitments on Monday make me think they are in fact sitting on some silent commits & maybe a surprise or two. Maybe nothing happens that we're not expecting but I've got a feeling CBJ & Co will have VN dropping some mega booms come Wednesday. JMO TIFIW GBO

I think its going to be feast or famine on Wednesday. Hes either going to hit a grand slam or strike out swinging badly. Hope its the former .

Even if it is indeed a strikeout,I am excited to see what CBJ and his staff can do with what they already have and whatever commits they get this year.

I am in total agreement! These guys have hit the streets running since the moment they got here! This is the exact kind of fight we as Vols have been needing. Players take on the attitude of their coach and it dictates how they play and handle themselves! Excited for the future, good ridence to the past! Things are getting brighter in Big Orange Country!

OP, I agree 100% with your theory. I have never undersood the idea of a silent before, but if this a possiblity for NSD I believe it could be a huge promotional deal. Would be nice with all the lights and eyes on Wednesday!

You can't hit a home run without stepping up to the plate.

I'm glad we're in the game with some of these kids.

Exactly my point in another thread. Even if we miss out, its nice to see so many top recruits interested in us this late in the game. Landing them makes it that much better!

I hesitated even expressing my thoughts on that because of all of the idiots who want to default to the "moral victory" garbage every time something like that is said.

But the bottom line is, you have to acknowledge progress. And I think we're seeing it. I think we're seeing a LOT of it.

GO VOLS!!

I hear ya. Has nothing to do with a moral victory to me though, just shows Butch actually has kids not only looking at UT but considering us as well.
