I might have missed it somewhere, but where we the only school in the SEC to not be there? Was that by choice or were we not invited?
Here's how important this is to a lot of us. What the h--- is the NPA Camp???? Not trying to be a smart---, but what is this thing of wanting to be accepted and loved by everyone? Can't happen.
Butch said on Mike and Mike this morning (while discussing camps)
That at this time of year, they focus all of the attention back to the current roster, not camps.
Just relaying.
I am not sure if you are aware or not, but NPA is ran by Buck Fitzgerald, former UT player.
Every program in America was welcome to the camp. For example Ohio State compliance called on behalf of their coaches to have them added a few days before the camp. We wanted the student athletes to have as many opportunities as possible which is why there were coaches from every level of program represented. There were Power 5, Mid Major, FCS, D2 and NAIA coaches there. Our only requirement was that the coaches pitch in and help coach the kids and not stand around like celebrities. Many kids will never have the opportunity to be exposed to high level coaching so we wanted to provide that service. The coaches there all did a great job of that, they all really worked and connected with ALL the kids there. UT was invited and could have only raised the profile of the camp. UT coaches participation would have been huge for the camp as well as providing an unreal experience of non-SEC caliber kids. We were informed that the camp date was outside of UT coaches' window to work the camp and all ad material had to be taken down immediately. We complied and removed the Power T from all ad materials, flyers and website. We were told they were working on getting coaches there. That obviously did not happen. Vandy was pulled late from the camp due to the same ruling as well as MTSU. Overall the camp was very successful and well attended by media, players of all level and college coaches of all level. These camps have been a learning experience for everyone and we will see how they evolve going forward. I hope this helps answer questions
Per corner on VQ
We have already determined that Butch's house of cards is crashing down and the coach who has reunited more VFLs with the program, including getting Coach Majors and Coach Fulmer together, has simultaneously built and destroyed relationships with vital Middle Tennessee personnel. He has screwed the perverbial pooch here and this little fluff piece by VQ doesn't fool us for one second. Are you with me VN Eyeores? VQ did some fancy tap dancing in that piece but I ain't buying!

Or maybe... Just maybe it makes sense and Butch knows what he's doing. Maybe NPA shouldn't have scheduled a camp this close to fall camp. If they wanted UT to be present maybe they should have coordinated with UT prior to the scheduling. I'll bet next year if they want UT coaches at their camp they will make coordination with UT prior to setting a date.
Sorry about the rant. Just tired of the sky is falling crowd. I know recruiting isn't where we want it to be but we really need to stop jumping to so many negative conclusions and just let it play out. We have a shot at a fantastic season and we don't need to let slower than expected recruiting hamper our enjoyment of what should be our best season in over a decade.
