Now that we've lost to South Carolina, will we see Dormady?

Doug Mathews brought this up on "Big Orange Sunday". Basically, the prize to play for just shrunk after Saturday nights loss. When do you start thinking about the future. Team 121.

Dormady hasn't seen many meaningful snaps. Is it time to start getting him some playing time? We open with Georgia Tech.

This is assuming there is no way you burn Guarantano's redshirt this season.

My intent isn't to be a Dobb's negavol. I love his heart and work ethic. Kelly and Fil-Aimes will give a glimpse of next year in the next 4 games, but it is because of attrition.

Young players have a chance to step up. It's like going to a car dealership and seeing next years model. Hopefully some good things down the road.

S Jones and Dormady should both play now, but no. Dobbs is not an SEC QB this year.

What idiot schedules GT on our schedule regardless of money. If we lose to GT and UF to open the season, ole Button Top is gonna feel the pressure.

Butch made it clear in the presser Dobbs is THE quarterback.

I'm talking "meaningful snaps". Sure, Dobbs starts, but let Dormady have something other than mopup duty. Maybe alternate possessions in the second half, something along those lines. The stakes for this season have changed.

He isn't our QB next year, so how is that preparing for the future? He will get destroyed behind our offensive line.

Dobbs isn't either. And, Dormady could be an injury away from being our quarterback next year.

Consider this too. Defensive coordinators know that Dobb's can't throw downfield effectively. No brainer to rush the house against Dobbs.

Some of that pressure Dobbs is getting is because of this. What if Dormady can throw the long ball with success? Changes the whole dynamic of how a defense responds.

Will it snow in July? No way you see any qb other than Dobbs unless he is hurt. Get a grip

Or unless UT has a blowout lead in the 4th so dormady can hand the ball off over and over. I'd be interested to see the stat on total time the Vols have led all season compared to playing from behind.

Dobbs will start and play in every game the rest of the season. The only way Dormady and Jones get in is if Dobbs gets hurt, we're winning by 4 touchdowns in the fourth, or we're losing by 4 touchdowns in the fourth. Butch isn't going to bench Dobbs at this point barring extreme circumstances. While moving on to next year makes sense to us I don't see the coaches and the team are thinking like that with games left to play. He's finishing the dance with who he came with.
