What differences will we see with the offense?

I could see us running fewer end-arounds because of Bray's lack of blocking ability/physical toughness. On the other hand I could also see more play-action passes, especially deep throws.

That's my two cents, how about yours?

How about more completions, more down the field plays and less sacks. Hopefully he can bring us a much needed SEC victory.

I would say we will see a lot of short plays and then go over the top. Of course that will only work if we're running the ball good. Just a trend I've noticed when Bray has been in the game. Like to throw short a couple of times and pick up some solid yardage, maybe even a first down then go over the top for a big play.

More completions. Bray gets rid of the ball quicker and has a WAY better arm

I really don't see much changing to be honest. I mean the passing plays called with simms are great plays imo with open receivers, it's just simms lack of heigth and holding onto the ball to long that causes those plays to not get executed imo

At this point I think the team or offense has lost faith in Simms. The receivers are not willing to lay it on the line for him like they did in the 3rd and 4th quarter for Bray. I see us having an upbeat attacking offense saturday and building from there to play these final 4 games 1 at a time and who knows we could win out.

I must have missed Simms' great blocking on the end arounds.

OK people let's get real here. Simms faced Oregon,Alabama, Gators,S. Carolina,LSU,Georgia. Now the next 4 games is not against what we have faced all year. I am all for Bray. But to put any blame on Simms for all this is crazy.

With Bray, in addition to improved passing efficiency, the running game opens up and the VOLs will average 30 points per game.

No one is blaming Simms; they're just acknowledging the reality that he's not and will never be an SEC caliber quarterback.

Not that we did it a lot anyways, but I think we'll see even less passes in the middle of the field. We'll probably see a lot of quick drags and outs, go routes down the side lines, and fades.

I think they'll try to widen the field with quick outs and drags to set up the run, and then of course play action.

Simms wasn't a bad QB, he just held on to the ball too long. I think we'll see more INcomplete passes because Bray seems to understand how to throw the ball away to avoid a sack.

My only disagreement with what you've said is IMO, the receivers aren't always open. I've noticed them frequently rounding off their cuts as the season goes on and they don't get as much separation from the defender as they probably need, considering our QBs. And part of the reason that Simms holds on to the ball too long is he has a hitch in his delivery. When he drops back into the pocket, he ALWAYS fakes pumps to the running back coming out of the backfield regardless of where's he actually throwing the ball. You'd think Daddy would step in a get his mechanics straightened out.

that will be the one game average against Memphis ...not so sure about the others.

Hopefully Bray comin in as the starter will give our recievers the motivation and step they need to finish their routes to be open consistently

We can STOP watching our QB crap his pants when a rush comes and either

A. Throw the ball to an open reciever

B. Avoid a Rush

C. Not fumble and whine about it after the game

D. Throw It Away!

E. All of the Above (Oh wait Bray Did that against USCe)

I noticed we ran a couple of slants when bray came in. I doubt we ran but maybe 5 slants all year with simms. Im assuming height has to do with some of that but I think thats a route we should incorportate into the offense more.

the only thing i can come up with, is that i have no idea what to expect now that Bray is the starter.
Posted via VolNation Mobile id say one change i would like to see is DaRick Rogers more involved with or without the end arounds.

I think it would be cool if we could use D. Rogers over the middle along with G. Jones. Flank D. Moore and J. Hunter out wide. If we could get protection, that would be nearly indefensible. D. Rogers looks like Vernon Davis -lite. Look deep, check to Jones or Rogers or even Poole in the flats...I think I just shat myself.

A qb that can actually make accurate passes, not get sacked that much, and a more confident qb. A lot more shotgun passes, and did i mention less sacks? ha
