Is McCain's War Record Fair Game?, Politico: McCain Camp Outraged After Wesley Clark, Liberal Bloggers Target Candidate's Service In Vietnam, Time As POW - CBS News

But farther to the left - and among some of McCain's conservative enemies as well - harsher attacks are circulating. Critics have accused McCain of war crimes for bombing targets in Hanoi in the 1960s. Sunday, a widely read liberal blog accused McCain of "disloyalty" during his captivity in Vietnam for his coerced participation in propaganda films and interviews after he’d been tortured.

West Virginia Senator Jay Rockefeller in April cut a bit closer, suggesting that McCain's days as a fighter pilot were themselves a critique of his character.

"What happened when they [the missiles] get to the ground?" he asked. "He doesn't know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues."

I wish people would not skirt the issue and just get to the point of the matter.

Flat out admit you hate the military, law enforcement, emergency services, etc......

Admit you think less of the people who are in these services................

Really, just be honest!

Allvol is a war criminal. When he was in the salvation army he stole change out of the bucket and took the bell home.

At least McCain had the balls to put himself in the position to make these tough choices. Any person who has not been in similar situations has no authority to call McCain's choices and service into question.

The majority of politicians are pencil necks who do not have a clue and unfairly believe we are out there to hurt and ruin peoples lives.

It is beyond me!

"But farther to the left - and among some of McCain's conservative enemies as well..."

Did anyone catch those references in the article? All I saw were progressive/Democratic responses.

Volinbham, do you think that:
Clark:Obama = Ferraro:Clinton?

It is certain.... Clark is a Clinton puppet.

Why, it is how they feel.

Maybe .001% of the population, if that's what you mean by "they."

Of course there are people who don't like authority figures in general and feel threatened by them. But I think to lump all military, emergency workers, police, etc. together - that might be a bit much.

I lived both aspects, liberal democrats and some republicans hate the military just because they are.

Our public safety director is a great example.......

Well, that wasn't what I was getting at. More specifically, did Ferraro's comments about Obama affect Clinton the way that Clark's comments about McCain will affect Obama? And did both statements (which were answers to questions from the show moderators) actually have some truth in them but were very inappropriate and not smart?

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. I give you mad props for putting your life on the line day in and day out. One night driving around with the police in downtown Durham was all it took for me to respect the he!! out of what you do (at least, the law-abiding police, that is). There are bad eggs everywhere, of course, but my gut tells me 99% of law enforcement are in it for the right reasons.

I saw the conservative comment but not sure who it is other than the POW/MIA group referenced in the article.

Not sure exactly what you are asking me but I think Clark is working a message that has been trotted out and tried by several Obama supporters. That message appears to be gaining some momentum among the left.
