Now is the time: Meyer or Stoops

Yes, this isn’t Johnny majors times.

No it’s not, but if you can’t give a guy 2 full seasons then what’s the point? Where does that put the next guy? He has 1 season to turn it around? What about the guy after that? 6 games? Show me a successful program that fired a guy in his second season and is competing for championships now? It’s delusional. I know it sucks to lose. I hate it too. But take the emotional knee jerk reaction out of it. You can’t realistically rebuild a program as troubled as TN in under 2 years. You just can’t.

Let's quit playing around. Go get Urban Meyer tonight, offer him $10M a year for 10 years and be done with it.

My point was it’s different times and fans won’t give that time you speak of anymore. You either get results or your done.

The team that is currently killing us fired their last coach half way through his third season.

Their current coach is just starting year 2.

Despite what we have been conditioned to believe, good coaching matters and it doesn't take 7 years to turn a team around. If you know a coach is a failure, it makes no sense to allow things to get worse.

Turn it around? Pruitt's turned it around alright, but it's going in the wrong direction. No discipline, horrible play calling both offensively and defensively. He looks completely over his head. Florida isn't that good and just smacked us down with a QB that hasn't started a football game since he was in the 9 th grade and looked like a Heisman trophy candidate against our defense

I’ll believe that UT will actually hire a quality coach after we do it and I see the footage of him stepping off the plane.

The people running this sh!t show just want more power, influence, and money. They could not care less about pride, respect, and winning. They sure as hell don’t care about a single one of us.
100% accurate. I would love to see Urban leading this team. I'm sure gator nation would love seeing him back in the swamp.

Tennessee is an awful football program and this may be the worst team in the history of the program. It’s embarrassing and it must come to an end. UT is truly on the precipice of never being nationally relevant again. When Alabama got tired of being irrelevant, it identified Saban, who was with the Dolphins at the time, and it kept increasing the offer until Saban accepted. There are two men that could get UT back to national prominence and they are Meyer and Stoops. I’d prefer Stoops merely because of Meyer’s considerable baggage but I’ll take either of them. UT needs to pony up and pay whatever it takes and we need to move now and the investment will be well worth it financially. Otherwise, UT is going to continue to fumble around and likely will never be good again. It’s more than past time and there are readily identifiable options. Let’s get it done.
I feel your pain, but NO

Here’s the thing people will say no one will come here and they’re right , we’re not getting stoops or Meyer for 4 mil , the top tier coaches are 8,9, 10 mil , we honestly needed to go bigger than that.we kept looking for a bargain coach and Now this is what we have a team that can’t even compete . We didn’t pay the price needed before our downfall and now we are reaping the results .
Agree. If we go shopping at K- Mart again, several good players on the current team will likely transfer to a better program. Hire Myer and you get instant credibility and probably keep the good players from transferring

You have zero chance for either. Wake up

Only people on that list worth a call is Matt Campbell and Hugh Freeze. You only make those calls after your top 3 targets say no.

Look...just go to Walmart and hire the bum laying on the ground. Pay him 20 bucks per month to coach. We will get someone off the street, and he sure as hell won't do worse than what we have had in the current past! Besides, when he fire him in two years, his buy out will be $240. We can sell a few beers and make up that!

This. I want Urban as much as anyone buy guys like him, who can choose their own landing spot, don’t choose programs than fire coaches in less than 2 years.

Stoops retired. Not like he's looking for a job.

Edit. Didn't know he was back coaching

His recent interview where he was asked if he would want to get back into college coaching. He said if he wanted to coach college he never would have left Norman, Oklahoma. I don’t think he wants to get back to coaching full time.
