Okay, now this is more like it. I, too, thought we should have fired Dooley after the Kentucky Loss and Butch after he lost to South Carolina and then Vanderbilt to blow both the East and a Sugar Bowl berth.
Our disagreement therein lies with the fact that I have seen a coach lose to every team with better talent than him, and many teams with less talent, and this past season felt like he was totally in over his head. The lack of any continuity from year to year on his staff is disconcerting; I know staffs shuffle at many places, but there is a possibility that no one from his initial staff is remaining at the beginning of next season if he is retained. The offense has been atrocious, and even during our winning streak EVERYTHING seemed so difficult on offense for a team that had legitimate weapons. Now, the defense has fallen into the dumps, and in Pruitt's prospective fourth season there will be a significant dearth of playmakers on that side of the ball. Our defensive line is depleted, we have one linebacker that would start on any other SEC team, and I don't think we have a single defensive back that would start anywhere else, maybe Alontae. As with any Saban assistant, he has stood on the sideline for Championships, but I agree that he appeared to have a legitimate pedigree when he was hired. It just hasn't panned out, and that happens. Some guys are just meant to be coordinators.
I don't disagree that the complaints feel tired and played out, either, but when you're persistently bad, complaining is going to occur until it gets fixed.
