Now do you like fournette better than Hurd?

If I recall, Gurley is also a 4.5 - 4.6 guy, but when he gets in the open field, I'm not sure I've seen a better RB turn it on and run away from people like he does. 40 times can be deceptive.

I think he has another gear...but he doesn't have the physical endurance to use them. He fights so hard to get what he gets due to not much OL help....I think after another year of S&C he may be able to better display it :dunno:

I'll keep Hurd and his 4.5 ypc against some pretty good defensive fronts (#12, #13, #24, #26 and #32 against the run) and didn't really play against UTC...and without a good OL....

Hurd for the season is something like 380 & change on 84 carries for roughly a 4.5 ypc avg. Chubb last week as the featured RB behind an OL that gave Gurley >7 ypc only averaged 3.8 ypc. Fournette behind an OL recognized as one of the SEC's best and will likely have 1st or 2nd team all SEC players is averaging roughly 6 ypc. Hurd is behind an OL that has zero all SEC candidates and sometimes a frosh RG, RT, and TE. Give me Hurd making something out of nothing for a 4.5 ypc all effing day over those other 2 guys. He is a beast and VFL!

I agree. The difference is they have pretty good OL. Hurd would have Gurley numbers if he had that line. Just saying!

Do any of you find it strange that the person who started this thread, never replies? Do ya think a troll is got you?

Hurd, Gurly Chubb are running behind a mature line......it does not make sense to even compare.

Hurd unfortunately has not shown the breakout speed I had hoped for. He has shown more power than i expected and has made every tackler earn it. I think with a pretty good offensive line he would be up there with Fournette right now. he juat does not have any room at all so far hence the 2-3 yard avg

Hurd has been laser timed at 4.31 according to GFW, that is pretty damn fast. I think in 3 yrs Fournette will be the best RB in the league with Hurd, Chubb, Sony M, and I'm sure one of Ala and AU guys too right behind him..Although Chubb is more physical than Fournette and Hurd right now.

Chubb better than Hurd? Fournette is more explosive than either Hurd or Chubb. Chubb is a more punishing runner than the other two. Still worry about Hurd's durability and even rounder if he can finish this season and avoid surgery. Long term as for NFL future I still believe he becomes an outside linebacker. I see a good sec running back....Ced Houston when I see Hurd. Lacks big time speed. Could get in weight room and become Brandon Jacobs type. We shall see but jury is still out.

One thing my friend put either Chubb or Fournette behind our Line, and put Hurd on theres, and then give me a call.:ermm: after ALL 3 are Juniors pull this thread back up way to early to say who is the best of the 3.

Well you remember the days when Payton/Sweetiness had no OL. This kid/Man has no line in front of him either. But look at his numbers already cmon man. Weve got something special here in Jalen Hurd. When the coaches realize that he needs that first key block from FB LIKE the rest of the great backs of the Past. Herschel Walker, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, etc.Ye even Walter Payton. Plus Gale Sayers and his Blocking FB was? Well if you don't know football then you don't know that answer.

Hurd doesn't have elite speed, but I don't believe you have to have elite speed to be an elite back. He is powerful, agile, and very quick for his size. He's also a good receiver. Another year in the weight room will improve his durability too. He has put up a lot of yards despite a bad offensive line. There are different types of backs out there. I don't remember Eddie George having elite speed but he was one of the best backs in the NFL.

I don't see the 4.31 speed on the field, but maybe it's deceptive. Anyway, I think he will be an elite back next season regarless.

stupid post - middle school line and rushes for 100 yards man he sucks
:crazy::loco::furious3::boxing2:

If you want to complain, complain about Lane not doing crap this season vs Hurd doing everything he can to get + yardage, but anyone else in other than Hurd we dont rush for 30 yards this week

Bill Parcells, generally considered one of the best all time coaches ever in college and pro football, (not to mention an acquaintance of mine who played for him at Vandy said he was the meanest man on planet Earth, which I like in a coach), has been quoted as saying when it comes to football your numbers are who you really are. If that's the case, Fournette with a great OL at 6 ypc, is not as good as Gurley was at >7 ypc. Hurd with a very questionable OL at 4.5 ypc can have a case made that he and the LSU freshman are comparable, go with one or the other, it's an apples and oranges comparison. But Chubb at 3.8 ypc behind the same OL that gave Gurley >7 ypc, is not even in the conversation as being comparable or close to Gurley, Fournette, or Hurd at all, he can't even carry any of this 3 players jockstraps ... IF .. Bill Parcells knows what he is talking about .. who I tend to believe has a lot of credibility.

I am sure you meant to say 5.3 ypc for Chubb right? I mean, that's what HIS NUMBERS really are. Yes, he only had 3.8 in this past game but they ran him 38 times for 143 yards and he was still grinding at the end. Then if you factor in that the numbers for Gurley are 8.2 and Sony Michel is at 9.7, well I don't even think some of Bill Parcells NY Giants lines could have been the difference in numbers like that.

And while we are on apples to oranges comparisons, let's add in the fact that teams have had 8 or 9 in the box (sometimes looks like about 15 in the box on TV) when they play UGA because they want Mason to throw the ball. They would rather have their DBs, UT included, go one on one with UGA receivers than have the backs beat them .. and then Gurley, Michel, and Chubb still beat them. They still get their yards. And with a stacked box all game long, IT AIN'T JUST ABOUT THE O-LINE. I am pretty sure there wasn't one play where UGA stacked the box against UT. UGA, like every other team that plays UT, played off to try to contain the 6'14" UT receiving corp.

What is very strange is that O/P never said Hurd wasn't a good back, comparing him favorably with Ced Houston. Also said he might bulk up and become another Brandon Jacobs....that's high praise. But since the RB position in the NFL is becoming less valuable, perhaps Mr. Hurd might want to consider playing another position. Fournette, in my opinion, looks like a future Heisman winner. I will be glad to revisit this prediction in two years. Chubs is also a good looking young back but is no Fournette.

Fournette looks like a punk, striking the Heisman pose after the first td of his career.

Hurd worries me with the injuries. But there is no way I'd want Fournette over Hurd. Hurd wanted to be here. Hurd went out and proudly displayed his love for UT.

There are plenty of good backs out there, but I'll take the one that wants to be here.

If you are talking about Brian Piccolo, I remember him being halfback who subbed for Sayers until moving to fullback blocking for Sayers in Picc's last year. I think he only played fullback about half a season until he had to be hospitalized with cancer.

I'm concerned about Hurd's physical toughness. Missed all but 1 game as a senior in HS to injury. Missing time again this year after 1/2 the season. Tough league. Not sure I'm convinced he can flourish in the SEC yet.
