November 23rd the key date?

It is my understanding that UT accepts $0 from the state. The only state school that doesn't.
The athletic department accepts $0. The university still gets millions from the state and the football coach will be a university employee.

Correct me if I'm wrong. (God knows you humbugs and gals will.😂)
The job has to be vacated per Tennessee requirements for 10 days right?

So with Vandy being a key recruiting weekend Tennessee fans should know by that date if it's a unemployed coach
1. Gruden
2. Miles
3. Kelly
They would be put in place after the 10 days for that recruiting weekend.

If no announcement is made before that time. Tennessee will be hiring a current HC or coordinator at another school. Because current employed coaches would not be available until after November 25th. (Even longer if nfl coach)

So that seems to point to a November 23rd announcement on Gruden, Miles, or Kelly.

After the 23rd passes it would rule out those guys.
Because after the 10 days are up you would want one of those 3 in place for the last football home game weekend.

I knew there was something about a state job being required to stay open a certain number of days and don't you have to interview a certain percentage of minorities too? Thanks for this.

Yea and I think that's part of the university being so open and easy to confirm Kacy Rogers as a target for vetting.

Helps Kacy Rogers (VFL) out with leverage in his NFL career getting the exposure.
Plus checks a box for Tennessee's coaching search.

It's the world we live in.

It's a very good thing we have gotten to. However in some circumstances it's just window dressing.

Pure speculation here, but it would make sense that Curry was thinking about the big recruiting weekend vs. Vanderbilt and worked his way backward to include the 10 day period. This meant that no later than Monday after the Mizzou game, CBJ would need to be fired. If this logic is correct, CJG is announced on Thanksgiving Thursday or Friday, just to ensure that there is a positive vibe on Saturday win or lose.

There is no 10 day requirement that I'm aware of. I believe Dooley was hired pretty quickly after Kiffin left us.

And why does it matter if someone is in place before the last home football game? I would argue it wouldn't make sense to have someone in place for that game. They're going to walk into a situation where it's the last game of the year and they've never seen the playbook. That would set them up to look like a fool for their first game. Just leave Hoke in as interim until the season is over and then bring in your guy.

They wouldn't coach the last game but they could talk to recruits who are visiting that game!

Miles = Butch Jones 2.0

Yes two championship game appearances and a National title is the same as a guy who never coached in one SECCG. You're a special kind of stupid. I can appreciate those who wouldn't be excited about having Miles as our next HC, but to compare him to Jones is f ing ridiculous.

I like Miles but to each their own.

I'm just talking about that will be the date Currie will have to show some of his cards.

Miles, you have got to be kidding. So you want a QB that can only run, not pass.

And win or lose games 14-10?

LSU has always had that issue at Qb.
It's the style of football that's played in their recruiting base.

You can go back to king Saben's days there. They were highly rated QB's just couldn't translate to college level or Nfl level talent.

Most qbs in that recruiting base are running qbs

The rule is 14 days, not 10... But it doesn't apply here. There is an exception for certain high-profile jobs like this.

The job would have to be publicly posted for the 14 days before they could hire anyone. If you go to the UTK Career site right now, there is no job posting for football coach.

Job Search

It's not a job you can apply for. It's an appointed position.
