Correct me if I'm wrong. (God knows you humbugs and gals will.😂)
The job has to be vacated per Tennessee requirements for 10 days right?

So with Vandy being a key recruiting weekend Tennessee fans should know by that date if it's a unemployed coach
1. Gruden
2. Miles
3. Kelly
They would be put in place after the 10 days for that recruiting weekend.

If no announcement is made before that time. Tennessee will be hiring a current HC or coordinator at another school. Because current employed coaches would not be available until after November 25th. (Even longer if nfl coach)

So that seems to point to a November 23rd announcement on Gruden, Miles, or Kelly.

After the 23rd passes it would rule out those guys.
Because after the 10 days are up you would want one of those 3 in place for the last football home game weekend.

Phil Finebutt said on his show to expect to find out the Wednesday following Thanksgiving. Who knows.

There is no 10 day requirement that I'm aware of. I believe Dooley was hired pretty quickly after Kiffin left us.

And why does it matter if someone is in place before the last home football game? I would argue it wouldn't make sense to have someone in place for that game. They're going to walk into a situation where it's the last game of the year and they've never seen the playbook. That would set them up to look like a fool for their first game. Just leave Hoke in as interim until the season is over and then bring in your guy.

Saw somewhere else that they had to file a waiver for Dooley because it was an unusual circumstance, plus Kiffin quit as opposed to being fired so maybe that changed something. Who knows though.

None of those 3 are coming here. As a matter of fact, Kelly is soon to be introduced as Florida’s next head coach.

Dude seriously if a coach is announced before the season is over they will not coach this year. It will be to get on the recruiting trail.

And if Tennessee is still a publicly funded university. There is a 10 day requirement on an opening.

Like another poster said. Had to get a waiver for Dooley

Didn't Texas hire Herman literally 5 hours after firing Strong?

Tennessee I'm talking Tennessee.

States have different rules regarding openings.

A school can be privately or publicly funded.

Both have different rules. Then different states have different requirements for openings if they are state funded.

It is my understanding that UT accepts $0 from the state. The only state school that doesn't.

If they no longer accept $$$ from the state. Then the university would no longer be under state control.

However if they no longer accept $$$ from the state Tennessee would technically be a private school. And I do believe we would have heard that information.

I don't know about the 10 or 14 day thing, but I'm pretty sure Barnes was hired like 2 days after Tyndall was fired. so idk
