I think you have to pass on a kid like this. If this is the best you can do, I roll with Merk and try to get Gas Pipe back for depth.

He had a good rive against Penn St.

He was also a 3 star who has thrown 80 passes in 2 years (36 last year). Not the proven vet I was hoping for if we aren’t turning to Merk.

Greg is getting as bad as Cowherd with some of his takes. I think Angeli is probably the best QB pick in the portal right now but the 2nd coming of Burrows is a real reach.

I get the feeling we're not looking for a starter but a 3rd QB who can compete and has some experience, this guy fits the bill.

There are no true slam dunks. Too much changes from one offense to another, one school to another and more.

What was the reason for HH to transfer out of VTech to come to TN? Is Steve getting out played or it’s just not a good fit for him at ND?

He checks the boxes. No pre Madonna? Check. Pocket presents? Check.

Angeli has skills that make moving the chain look easy, which it definitely is not. I'll be happy to have this guy on our team.

He's the flavor of the minute. Won't turn him away as a depth piece, but I won't lose sleep if we don't get him. Ain't making the playoffs with or without him I suspect.

We're going to end up with a two-man battle for the starting job between Merk & GMac with a graduate transfer from a DII school for depth if we aren't careful. Not the end of the world but feels like it'd be a missed opportunity to at least take a chance on improving the position. I don't view Angeli as a game changer either but who knows. Maybe he's a gamer. Wouldn't mind finding out.

Not all. Especially after what's happened this off-season. He definitely gets a mulligan this year. My point is, if you can't get an impact transfer with experience at QB, and it doesnt appear that we are going to be able to, given how late in the game this is, there's no sense in bringing In a guy like this who doesn't appear to fit our offense and has very little experience. Don't waste the time, don't waste the money. Try to get a couple of depth pieces elsewhere, ride with Merk and take your lumps next year, with hopes Merk makes strides and can be a good QB the following year. But who knows on any of this at the moment.

Dear coach,
I have four years of eligibility left. I'll be your QB. I can guarantee I won't over throw a wide open receiver 40 to 50 yards downfield. I can guarantee it, cause I can't throw it that far :)

Well it’s up to the coaches. Imo they need to bring in someone who can compete, not a former walk-in who hasn’t played football since December. And then on scout team. At this point this guy seems to be our best option. If he is good enough to start, that’s great. If not, so be it. It’s no good just to bring in someone who can’t play.

oh I agree on bringing in someone that can compete (but not only compete, be a high impact player) and I have no doubt that's what the coaches want to try to do, but that doesn't mean there's anyone decent out there that's willing to come. I just don't think this guy is what we need. I don't believe he's gonna be much, if any, better than Merk. He's kind of in the same boat, very limited experience. We need someone that has proven experience. You bring someone In, you risk losing Gmac or Merk to the portal either way, I would just rather that happen if we bring in someone that is going to be an absolute difference maker, and as of right now I don't believe there is one of those in the portal. Anyone that is an impact player is going to hard to pull away from their school at this point in the year.
And if you don't get one of those types of players, bring back Gas Pipe, since he knows the system and the risk of losing Merk or Gmac I think goes down drastically.

From those highlights, he’s got some zip and a live arm. Is more than mobile enough. This fits the definition of someone capable of competing for the starting job or at worst being a capable next up. Think Gaston Moore with scholarship level talent.
