Watching the highlights of both of these teams I noticed something. Fournette had an outstanding performance and Chubb/Michelle had good performances as well. Both teams utilize a FB quit frequently. Maybe Butch should think about using one more, especially considering our OL troubles. What do you guys think?

I don't see us abandoning are shotgun based spread to go to under center with a FB.

Georgia and LSU also run pro style offenses. We run a spread offense that uses a ton of read option.

Asking Butch to emphasize a fullback is asking him to scrap his offense entirely.

Hmmm true, but honestly if that offense is not able to win big games, wouldnt it be beneficial to at least consider switching the offense?

Let's overhaul our entire offense because LSU and UGA have Fournette and Chubb. Makes sense.

Trying to use a fullback would blow Butch's mind.

This style of offense wins just as well as pro style does(Urban Meyer, as just one example, has 3 national championships to his name running this style of offense).

It's all about the personnel and play calling. We're still building the personnel and the play calling is still a ?.

And we have Hurd and Kamara -- all they is someone to block for them. If a FB would help us against SEC caliber teams, then why not give them the help?

But while it might make sense we all know it won't happen. Butch would rather lose a game than deviate from his pet offense

With the current personnel in the O-line, I don't see a power running team in our immediate future. I hope that in another year or two we can be multiple enough to have that formation as an option in certain situations. Like maybe 4th and inches. However, practice time is far more limited than it used to be, so a thinner play book with an emphasis on the Butch-Read might be what we will have as long as CBJ is the CEO of TN Football. All available practice time might be needed to be able to run that thing and there simply aren't enough hours in a week to be good at old fashioned offenses as well.

I done it on PlayStation!

Haha. I know you were kidding but I actually know a guy that would use that argument. He was like "Man I don't get it...on College football 09 I run the triple option with Tennessee and we are unstoppable...why don't the coaches know to do this" lol. Some people are :loco:

I believe that the closest thing that you could potentially see, and the only viable option really, would be to line up both Hurd and Kamara in the backfield and use Hurd as a lead blocker. After all, Hurd is every bit as big as an old-school fullback.

If we had a coach anywhere near as good as Meyer, I would agree with you. But we dont.

I said this in 2013 when we had an oline full of NFL players. He's gonna run his predictable, slow developing offense until he dies. Adjustments be damned.

We are a read option spread offense. A FB would be useless in our scheme.

This staff ain't going to change NOTHING. The only thing that seems to really work is recruiting. Did you not watch us not throw the ball for half the game? Run the same play 20 times in a row? Because he's trying to hide our suck butt passing weakness. Whether it be o liNE collapse, wrs not getting open, or catching, or only having 4 pass plays and 2 are the same screens that didn't work last yr. We didn't use this game to tune up what we needed going forward. We know we can run. But let's not work on our non existing passing game for a whole quarter. I don't care if it would look bad. We have guys who need the reps. Just like Frank Beamer today. He had game won. Still kept throwing and going for it on 4th. Why? Because they needed the reps

The old school philosophy works, but at this time we need to see the spread offense after this year, I don't think we should scrap it, but should work by now after the athletes butch has recruited in. We do need some adjustments to it.
