Are you guys noticing that we have confirmed travel, meetings, and discussions that are happening with the AD?!

As others have surmised: This idiot targeted Schiano and no one else! Freaking stupid amateur! Haslams and Currie had Schiano and no one else!

Apparently a few years ago Belichick told Haslam that Schiano was a slam dunk coach. Haslam tried to get him to the Browns but their front office wouldn’t allow it. So when Currie had to make a pick he asks Haslam who is on his list. Haslam says get Schiano. Currie sees no other school pursuing him and thinks he’s about to get this great coach a year before all the other schools would pursue him. He doesn’t want word to get out that he’s on the top of our list because he thinks other teams will go after him and start a bidding war (think Smart about to sign with SCAR, UGA finds out and signs him before they can). Currie thought he would annouce Schiano and all these other schools and fans would be like “oh man, we had no idea he was even looking to be a head coach this year, UT beat us all to the next great coach”. Reality was a bit different.

Lol it funny right? Why could he have just done it the right way from the start.

Haslam's stink is all over Currie. He really should be banned from any contact or influence from the hiring and firing of coaches to the daily workings of the Athletic Department.

Firing Currie immediately is a given. Coaches aren't interested in an unstable situation. Phil could provide stability as an interim AD, until Blackburn can be smoothly rolled into that seat.

Next, look at this HC hunt backwards. In addition to stability, what can we entice them with?

Kevin Steele is a former Vol linebacker. Though he didn't impress as Baylor's HC, he's got everyone's attention as Auburn's DC. He out-defensed Alabama.

Offer Mr. Steele whatever it takes to become our DC, if the new HC wants him.

Defense is the bottom line in the SEC but we are at the very bottom of the SEC in offense. It might be possible to find a great deal of interest from potential HCs with a reputation for innovative offense and coaching up.

It would certainly be worth contacting Frost, Gundy, Kiffin and an entire string of attractive candidates. My guess is that more than one would take Fulmer's call.

What sucks is each rejection, whether there was an actual offer or not, makes us look weaker and weaker. And for some reason, NOW Currie decides it can all be public. Sure makes that Schiano situation look like he was trying to pull one over on us, doesn't it? Now its all over the place where we are looking for a coach. Too much there to be a coincidence.
