Notes On Summer Performers

The most positive thing I can hear from off-season workouts is that no one got hurt playing pick-up basketball and no one started a bar brawl...

Hush yo mouth! You remind me of myself last January saying at least we have two good safeties returning in Jackson and Brewer.

I used to put stock in these reports. No more.

Kept hearing how many breakout players we were about to have, and how good Brantley looked before last year, etc.

Sure we like hearing this stuff as fans, but it certainly doesn't hold the weight we want it to.

Well it beats reports about them being lazy pot smoking goof offs and getting busted in a bar brawl.

Carson showing up out of shape is disappointing. Shounds likes he will be watching with Greg Clark.

That's all I ever expected out of him anyway. Glad to see he is working on it though. He might contribute as a junior, or senior.

Oh come on. That's an absolutely ridiculous comment.

He's 6'0" flat and 330 when recurited, and just graduated high school. He wasn't going to be long jumping with Justin Hunter no mater what conditioning excercises he was doing in the offseason.

Assuming he followed the work outs he was provided with after signing his Letter of Intent, he was going to show up needing improved conditioning.

Sounds less to do with his weight and more about being gassed.....

Of course he's gassed. Find a single person that weighs 330 at 6'0 that wouldn't be gassed the first weeks of a major college football conditioning program out of high school.

The coaches knew coming in he would be gassed. He knew coming in he would be gassed. The only person ready to bench him for the next five years of his life for being gassed his first workouts is you.

Him being gassed right now is not a comment on his chance of succes or proof of his work ethic up till now, anymore than Justin Hunter not having Jamal Lewis's senior bench press his first workout is a comment on his work ethic or chance of success.

Someone writes one statement on one guy his first two weeks without even a set of pads on and somehow that's proof the kid is lazy / a thug / Herschel Walker Part II / will be riding pine for five years. Its ridiculous.

coach O told him that he recruited the guys at ut and that Malik had no shot at playing at ut. Thank god he did not listen.

Never heard that. Especially since he was pissed Malik left.

All that I was trying to say is that he probably will not play this year.... We are saying the same thing.

If so, there is about a 0% chance of him starting this year. He needs to drop about 30 or 35 pounds. Idk maybe its possible.
