Say what you will, I think She did a great job. Lets remember there could be lawsuits and settlements and She was smart not to comment on the situation more than she did.
The bottom line is that She had the balls to end the **** show and whether we like Fulmer or not, the coach search will stop being the laughing stock of the country. I look forward to a quiet competent search and hopefully a great hire.
If you can say you would rather the circus have continued, you are not a true Vols fan and you will not be happy regardless.
The drama is over.
I think he has choice #1 and #2 already lined up and he is going after them. After this debacle, I think he knows what will be acceptable and what won't.
"I've seen what honest communication ... can achieve."
That was a shout out to John Kelly !! Hopefully Coach Fulmer will find honesty, John.
There was nothing strong about her press conference performance. She is also at the helm of the school that just conducted the worst coaching hire of all time. Lead by her first hire.
No amount of apologies, which she didn't provide, will compensate for her ineptness. She was shaking because she's had her azz chewed & knows HER job is on the line as well. Regardless of who gets hired as coach she needs to go too. She's only concerned now because she's responsible for hiring Currie & that shows her poor judgement by not hiring Blackburn or Fulmer to start with, and she's trying to save her own skin.

I think there's merit to both sides of the Davenport equation. It's a good thing she brought a quick end to the xxxt show Currie had devolved into, there was no serious coach going to come work for that guy as AD, he had poisoned his own well. Even Leach was not stupid enough to sign on with Currie and I dismiss reports of his impending arrival as BS all the way. However Davenport and we have all likely seen this during our work lives, new to her job trusted the people around her she was told she could trust. Chances are she left the football coach hiring in the hands of Currie and whoever it was influencing him. Being new her trust was misplaced as she found herself signed up for hiring a .500 lifetime coach for $3.5 million per year with pedophilia scandal baggage attached in Schiano. The Schiano thing communicated UT was no longer a serious player for championships or competing at high levels even within the SEC. The salary was low ball and the person we were hiring was a low ball individual. This more than anything sealed Currie's fate IMO, no one would work for the guy after he had communicated UT was no longer a serious competitor no matter how much he offered. She realized and fingered Currie as the root cause when you have to know she was receiving guidance otherwise and she did something about it. Enter Fulmer. Davenport by virtue of trying to do the right thing in fixing it, deserves another chance IMO. Just one because I believe she now realizes the people telling her she could put any sort of product on the field at Neyland and the hicks would go along with it were and are FOS. She gets it in that the vast bulk of the fans expect winners and champions on The Hill. To me that is a very very good thing.
Davenport's comments confirm my suspicion that she had decided Curry had to go before he started talking to Leach. Once she (justifiably) lost confidence in Currie, she didn't want him continuing to interview coaching candidates. Whoever they were. It sounds like Currie may have been insubordinate in continuing to have discussions with Leach after Davenport ordered him to cease. I guess he figured if he delivered Leach as a coach, she would have no choice but to go along with it and by virtue of that save his own skin.
