Young team. We're going to have to live through these growing pains. It is frustrating, though, how we keep giving it away with a poor second half. Let's hope Bruce can get them back on track. I have a lot of faith in that man.

Does anyone not remember at the beginning of the year we all thought that just making the NCAAs was going to be considered a successful season? And that was with a full season from Lofton. A good early season boosted our expectations, but no Lofton and relying on a streaky player and four freshman in normal rotation is going to lead to a lot of growing pains. The next two weeks are going to be rough, but we still have another month's worth of games to get the ball rolling in the right direction.

you know, there's some similarity there that i just can't put my finger on? Didn't another TN sports team have a similar type season? start off strong, and fizzle towrad the end, suffered some big injuries.........and ruled a huge disappointment, despite pre season questions.....? eh, maybe not.

:p

Good point, but maybe I'm just a little more realistic from beginning to end and figured the team realistically reaches 20 wins and that would be about it. Even I jumped a little in December and thought there was an outside chance at a Sweet 16 run. Then I quickly remembered the youth factor and knew the season would be up and down. Just didn't think the roller coaster would be over 6 game stretches. Figured more game to game.

You left out a huge difference. The basketball team is not coming off an embarassing, sub .500 season.

i was merely making an observation about the mentality we as fans have towards the teams. our expectations with football have alwyas, and will always be high, but with bball, until the last two years, honestly, we haven't expected much. but as they win, our expectations go up with each one. so when we lose the rationale changes with the eb and flow of each season, regardless of sport. pre season expectations are one thing, seeing the results are another........and don't get me wrong, i agree with you...this is still that same team....it's just that now they look like what we originally expected. same thing with the football team too, imo. they both have turned out to be basically what we thought they were.

Yeah, it is Bruce's fault that Duke is simply better than the Lady Vols. I would hate for someone to admit the truth and say that several teams have surpassed Queen Pat and her squad.

Thank you. I glad you admit she is a Queen.

It is an apt analogy. PS has a program that is papidly becoming a mirror image of the British Royal Family. They are both living off past glory and rapidly becoming irrelevant.

Tell Pat to get her girls prepared. Bruce had nothing to do w/ Duke being fired up. I'd put the loss on Pat well before Bruce (especially w/ him not coaching the game). Bruce is the man...

How could that be? UT gave her a million dollars a year?

I can agree that she should be the highest paid women's coach, but putting her over $1 million just because Pearl is paid that way is questionable. Isn't is true that the Lady Vols basketball team was only $35,000 or so in the black? Then they give her a $400,000 or so raise? Pat Summitt needs to be thankful that Bruce Pearl is in town and selling some "dad-gum popcorn", because the men's team is pulling in millions - something like $3.5 million.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. All this press is worth more than a loss to the women's team. So good for recruiting and $$$.
