According to this SDS article (with analysis), UT is only second in the SEC when it comes to wide receivers over the last decade.

Which SEC school claims the 'Wide Receiver U' title for the last decade?

Honestly I expected us to be lower than this but when you think about it there have been some good wide outs at UT.

I wish they had listed all of the wide receivers as I am not as familiar with other teams as I could be.

Enjoy.

Honestly, no UT WR deserved to make the list.

Think this could change quickly if they can stop being Hurt Wide Receiver U.

I also hope they let these guys actually develop some rhythm in the flow of the game instead of rotating every other play next season.

No doubt the talent is there. Injuries and, IMHO, a lack of good development hurt the wr corps last year. Personally, I'm not sold on Coach Z to this point, but let's see how his guys do this year.

Agreed.

I see tremendous potential in North, Malone, and Pearson if they can stay healthy and on the field.

Hope DeBord implements some more vertical routes in the offense and realizes Malone could be an effective red zone target.

Got a little too easy to defend the horizontal passing game a times last season IMO.

The lack of an o-line hurt our passing game too, but when we did get the ball out, there were quite a few bonehead plays.

Morgan was a running back at UT.

Look at Morgans career statistics and you will see how many rushing yards he had. They lined him up in both the running back and receiver position.
I heard an interview with him on the radio about a month ago and he commented about that.

Quite impressive, wow soon to add Pearson, Pig, North, Malone and Williams in the next few years if I had to guess and even Josh? something. Help me with his last name kid that had nice play against Oklahoma??

No problem....

48 catches, 1075 yards, 8 tds
353 carries, 1952 yards, 28 TDs

He was primarily a running back at Tennessee.

Chris Black being on the top ten list is a complete joke. He is talented, and he might belong on that list by the end of the season. Not now though. They had to squeeze in an Alabama player somewhere though. Pig definitely belongs on there before him though, and I personally think you could put North, Pearson, and Croom on there before him too.

I was in school at UT at the time and we all knew Stanley to be a natural and highly talented wide receiver. However, this was the toward the end of the Battle years and things weren't improving (many UT fans were thinking how could a bammer lead the Vols). But the program never deteriorated to the depth that UT is now emerging from. UT needed playmakers and Stanley was awesome, catching passes, running the ball, and returning kicks. I remember listening on the radio to John Ward the last game of the season in 1975 against Hawaii (game started after midnight local Knoxville time) where Stanley rushed for over 200 yards and became UT's all-time rushing leader for a single game. Of course, he returned to his natural position at New England and the rest is history.

I don't understand how anyone could discuss WR U and Vol wideouts without Willie Gault being in their top 3 somewhere along with Stanley Morgan, there's a bunch that could be #3.

With you on Gault, not on Morgan.
Morgan was an all pro WR in the NFL, but he was primarily a running back at UT.....48 career catches vs 353 carries/rushes. 8 tds receiving, 28 tds rushing.
