Not Understanding the Dooley Love

You're making less and less sense. If you can't understand why it's impossible/idiotic to judge Dooley as a championship caliber coach based on this season, then I can't help you. I thought I predicted 4-8 for this past season... maybe not. I was thinking Ole Miss and UK were much better teams from what I remember.

I'm not asking you to judge him as a championship caliber coach. Like I said, I'm not asking you to predict if he ever makes it to a championship.

Just asking you to judge him as a coach, period. If he is average or better, he will get his contract renewed. If he is average, but not terrible, he won't. If he is terrible, he will get a buy out.

How does picking either one of those three choices require that you predict if he is a "championship caliber coach?"

And, you think you picked 4-8, thinking that Ole Miss and Kentucky would win... yet today you can't see how we could probably lose to either?

Man, hindsight must run through your veins.

Can I get a Southpark Captain Hindsight pic?

I'm not trying to tell you anything of substance. That's what I was asking for in the original post. This reading stuff is hard.

So, you can ask us something of substance and expect an answer... but we can't ask you something of substance and receive an answer?

How very political of you.

Dooley will be an iconic legend at TN...book it....He has a combination of wit and anal principles that even Saban does not possess...He will be kick'n everyone's a$$ in about three years.....not even hatvol can hold him back.

It was blowing the doors off of UGA and South Carolina. Taking the eventual national champs (w/ a hall of fame coach) down to the last second on their home field was a factor as well, yes.

Kiffin underachieved... Dooley overachieved, even your expectations... So it makes no sense for you not to show him some love.

Yeah, I thought Ole Miss and UK would beat us. Sue me. They are not good teams, especially Ole Miss. Things change over the course of 3 months.

In regard to Dooley, you're missing my entire point again. I'm trying to figure out the love affair that people have with Dooley right now... just like I was kinda miffed at how people hated him when he was hired. I wasn't crazy about the hire, but I was willing to give him some time.

The only way that I would really get behind the guy is if I thought he could lead us to a championship. He can only do that by beating the upper echelon SEC teams or at least making us really competitive soon. He hasn't had that chance yet. I have no freaking idea if he can make us competitive against those teams/coaches. If Dooley in his second year is able to do what Kiffin did in his first year, then we'll have something to go off of. It would still be a bold prediction, just like it was with Kiffin, to say that Dooley can win big like that if he is able to have that kind of year next year. It's as simple as that.

B/c y'all (not necessarily you) are the ones head over heels for the guy ... not me.

Kiffin underachieved? Other than the UCLA game, Kiffin did a heck of a job with that team. That's just not an intelligent statement.

The dudes got good bloodline, is well spoken, has great hair, is honest, has passion for coaching, has a history of being a good recruit, is a good looking guy (no homo), and has coached a team that has shown improvement through out the year. What am i leaving out?

Class has returned to Tennessee and we will win.....He will recruit. If I was the mother of a potential recruit to a Division I school I would want my son to play for someone like DD. Lots of other mothers will feel the same way...We need to let DD play in addition to coaching...Did you see him catch against KY?

You are right, you have no idea. Yet if things go against Dooley, I'm willing to bet you bump this thread.

If things go for Dooley, you'll be able to say you just weren't sure, but after you had seen it, you knew it was there.

Like I said, you have been blessed with the power of hindsight. Somewhere, someone is in need of your powers to say what could have been done differently.

As far as the love for Dooley goes, it is, as I see it, quite simple. Hope. Faith. Belief.

There are those that hope he is a great coach. There are those that have faith that he will be a great coach. There are those that believe he is a great coach.

And then there is you, who won't take a stand one way or the other. And that is very amusing. At least to me.

Of course, that does make it easy to make a prediction about you.

What do you mean "with that team?" That team had what....6 or 7 players taken in the draft. That team had talent and Kiffin did a great job? No way. We got taken to the shed by VT in our bowl. Dooley has done a great job this year compared to Kiffin. By the way....I just loved seeing him get beat by a terrible ND team last night.

Anyone hating on Dooley IMO probably was the guy in school always hating on others they perceived as too good looking or too good at sports. I think the word is jealous.:lolabove:

He made half of those guys into NFL picks Einstein. Kiffin had some talent though for sure... definitely more than Dooley's had to work with. And, Kiffin was able to do some things with that extra talent. Time will tell if Dooley does something with talent. As far as VT, they dominated us on the lines which is some coaching but mostly just having the big uglies necessary to compete. Also, if Moore catches that pass, it's probably a completely different game.

You don't have any idea either which is the ironic part. No one does. I still don't get your hindsight comments. I'm not trying to look smart in 3 years. I'm just questioning the overall meteoric rise in optimism surrounding Dooley based on this past year. But, you may be right in that people are just desperate to latch onto him b/c of the past few years. Who knows...

You are delusional. Go see what Boy Wonder is doing in LA this year. About the same as he did here. I'll take Dooley after Kiffin any day.

Kiffins not a good coach. We payed good money for him to get great coaches around him who turned out NFL talent. He'll run USC in the ground just like he would have done us because good assistance can only take you so far. If not for his daddy, he wouldnt have sniffed a head coaching job nor would we have hung around on florida and bama.

I have been CDD's biggest hater but what he did this season is AMAZING. On the other hand, if he hadn't been so hard headed and benched Simms earlier we may have had 1 or 2 more wins.

No, you are correct. I have absolutely no idea. But I can at least take a side based on what I have seen already.

I don't need to wait until after the fact, or even need one more year that compares to any other year. I can make a stand now, based on what I have seen this year.

That is all I asked you to do. But, if you don't want to, so be it.

Think you'll be able to make a judgment call this time next year?

Your not his biggest hater anymore. Volfan8282 takes the proverbial cake. Hes like the chic that gets her azz beat by her boyfriend and then a nice gentleman that will treat her right comes along but she wants da badazz.
