Pruitt could take a leak in Fulmer's gas tank and not get fired
Pruitt don't need to be fired and the conversation doesn't even need to be had!!!! I'm no moral victory guy but dang, if you can see the improvements then I don't know what to say. Especially a team that's had very lil participation in camp due to the bizarre year this has been. Goin into this game I didn't expect a W to be honest, I live in reality and wanted to see us be competitive against a tip tier contender and go toe to toe with them and I'm satisfied with what I saw. We are legitimately a decent QB away from being a contender ourself. Take away all the stupid penalties and the 3 turnovers (JG#2) and you have a different score and possibly a different outcome. Our D is legit, but dang they was wore out in the 2nd half. Go back to work tomorrow make adjustments and keep grinding. But that's just my opinion and I'm no football coach or expert.

Pruitt doesn't need to be fired, he needs to demand much better from his coaching staff and his QB. The reason I get pissed at Pruitt is because he could have been developing a QB all this time and here we are hoping against hope that something finally clicks and JG becomes serviceable. He isn't. The problem is between the ears with him.

Chaney is predictable and pedestrian af. Maybe that is because he knows who is taking the snap? I will never believe that someone sitting the bench right now couldn't have been developed into a much more capable QB than JG.

We are such a victory and respect starved fan base the last 10 yrs I think a lot of fans just want to believe Vols are 90's good again when in reality we beat 2 medium level teams and we are not big boy good yet. Need that elite QB. I learned 6-7 yrs ago not to get too high for a Vols season then you don't have that far to fall when they don't meet your expectations and your Sat's don't implode on you like it seems to for some on here.

I agree that Coach Pruitt has things going in the right direction. I also think that today was nauseatingly pathetic.

Your points are all valid. I’m just demoralized because I am watching Ole Miss compete with Bummer in Kiffin’s FIRST year at the helm. I watched A&M (ranked lower than us) figure out a way to win against a #4 ranked Florida team.

We weren’t really competitive today. Caught some breaks in the first half that made it SEEM competitive, but it wasn’t.

I don't think Pruitt should be fired. I don't think the idea should even be brought up. Ludicrous. I am just saying he can screw up continuously with no consequences.

I am kind of shocked at the reaction I'm seeing. Disappointed, I understand. But, I'm seeing some genuine anger.

1. I think there is a genuine lack of respect for just how good Georgia is, particularly on defense.

2. There is, and it's not close, no doubt that Tennessee is moving in the right direction and that EVERYTHING, not damn near everything, but EVERYTHING is better about that football team now on 10/10/20 than this time last year and certainly when Pruitt took the job.

3. Yes, unfortunately, right now, you can't just be "good"and win the SEC or be "good" and win the division. You have to be national championship contender good. And I don't think most people here reasonably expected to be national championship contender good at this point.

4. You could have Florida's defense.

I saw many of Jones coached teams look better against top 5 ranked teams than what I saw today. You are trying to convince us that what we are seeing is better than at the same point of Jones's reign. You are insulting our intelligence.

As was mentioned during the game, Pruitt will be judged by how his teams perform against Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. He is 0-7, very likely headed to 0-9 after this season, and the games haven’t been close.

Yes, progress has been made since he was hired, considering we were the worst team in the league and had losing streaks to EVERY team in the conference not too long ago. It is just hard to watch your team getting dominated by your ”rivals“ EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. At some point they aren’t really rivals anymore. You have to win some of those games to be considered a rival.

And no, I didn’t expect to win this game. I knew that we would have to be able to run the ball to win unless Georgia was generous and decided to keep turning the ball over. What was disappointing was that we couldn’t budge Georgia’s defensive line. At all. With our highly recruited and experienced offensive line. And that led to yet another blowout.

So bottom line... we have made progress under Pruitt, but not against the Big 3 on our schedule.

The offense was soul-crushingly bad today. The highly touted OL was trounced and our highly paid OC looked outcoached and unprepared. Outside of 2 throws JG was bad, but he is pretty much what he is... no reason to think a Ford Taurus is gonna magically turn into a Maserati.

It felt like a huge step backwards. The talent difference is not a gap, it's the Grand Canyon.

Lol, this isn’t close to rock bottom. Team has some legit talent on it at almost every position. Remember our roster when Dooley left.
Yes but what scares me is we looked really good against a top 10 Oregon team for a half and then got boat raced. We need to move on from #2 he can be a great back up but the pressure is to much for him 4 possessions 4 turn overs fumble are on him the coaches can’t hold the ball for him no matter the play call. The interceptions are on him to better to take a sac or get a intentional grounding call on early downs than a pick. I can take getting beat but not like that if it has to be like that let it be because we have a younger qb not a 5 th year senior doing the same thing time after time

Barring the fluke early TD, it's yet another 30 point loss. It's doesn't look like progress to us and we're tired to losing to UGA/Bana/UF ny a combined 100 points every year. Pruitt has been given a massive recruiting budget, a lot of money to hire Chaney and Ansley and world class facilities and we continue to get trounced
Amen to this

We can say anything about this or that. Bottom line is. We lost to a team that is better than us. It sucks. I am disappointed just like everyone else. I am not taking off my orange, or leaving my fandom. I still bleed orange.

No offense intended but there is no self respecting program in this country that would find an effort like the one we saw from four 5 star offensive lineman acceptable. That an experienced qb would struggle that horribly. That experienced running backs would miss pass pro assignments. The offense got their teeth kicked in tonight.

We are not closing on the elite in this conference. We've only preserved the status quo. I didn't expect to win, I expected to compete and lose respectably, that isn't what happened.

The worst part about all of this is, we did this mostly to ourselves. An uncharacteristically high amount of penalties that continually got our offense behind the chains, and helped Georgia sustain drives when their offensive couldn't do much of anything. Turnovers, which we hadn't had all year, were a huge factor as well. Putting the defense out there way more than they should have, and giving them points. We had a couple of busts in the secondary as well that cost us. Let's be honest, they are better than us, but we played the worst game that we've played since Georgia State last year, yet it was still a game into the fourth quarter. The only reason that was the case is because we've done a good job at closing the talent gap between us and them. Playing like we played today a few years ago gets you beat 41-0 or whatever other embarrassing loses we've had over the last decade.

Who ****ing cares what this Gator has to say? Of course he's going to look at this as a positive, we are terrible.

I normally don't care for veiled condescending talk from Gator/tide/dog fans, but I thought what he said was spot on and honest.

We will make the Fl. Defense look just as good as GA.'s.

I expected to wear down to UGa in the 2nd half, but a similar performance to Florida will be the clear indicator that we are absolutely misguided and our coaching is incompetent. That'll piss me off.

Chaney doesn't trust JG . His play calling make it obvious. Pruitt needs to leave the decision to him on who runs out on the field and let him manage that. If Chaney can't develop someone and have them more prepared than JG , he needs to be replaced. Pruitt has no business deciding who plays qb unless Chaney really Fs up and he has to intervene.

Could be worse, we could be LSU fans....

Yeah they won a NC LY with maybe the greatest college season of all time. 15-0. They know exactly why they’re down and will probably be contending again for NC before Tennessee wins the East Division.
