Not to defend Crompton

not really sure what game you'll watched, and JC had his share of mistakes, but he is not geting any protection, nor a lot of help from his receivers, this is a TEAM sport, It's not all JC fault, Our entire offense, minus the running game, has a lot of growing to do.

That's why he threw it out of bounds last week against UF when there wasn't a defender near him?

The BB drop was disappointing. He keeps making some bonehead plays...missing at least one cut a game, the spin move against Ucla, getting pulled against WKU, etc.

I think tonight was like a scrimmage gone bad for Kiffin. He wanted to see what Crompton could do. He failed, it will be an interesting week in practice.
I thought the same thing. It felt like Kiffin was trying to give Crompton an opportunity to be successful. And he did make some throws. But for every one decent pass, there were two abysmal ones. I think he even managed to get one of his receivers a little shaken up on a high ball over the middle. Finally in the third quarter, Kiffin called off the experiment, and ran it out for the win.

I want the kid to do well - I'd be stoked if he could come out and throw for 400 yards. But he can't. I don't see how any sane, rational person doesn't give Nick Stephens a shot next week.

I wonder what excuses we'll make for him next week "auburns defense is the best in the sec" or maybe "the recievers didnt help him out any" I love the vols, but I cant stand beating around the truth that is crompton sucks under all circumstances

I honestly felt like play calling put him in bad positions tonight. First time I've felt that way all year. The play action roll out is obviously Kiffin's favorite play. Ohio read it all 15 times we ran it tonight. The interception was probably not his fault and the fumble was dumb cause we were cramming it down their throat on the ground.

Hardesty is by far the best player we got on O and he can't play more than 2 downs in a row.

I wonder when he throws a pic or screws up if he's over on the sideline saying i know i shouldnt have thrown that but please just let me go back in i promise i wont do it again. He just looks like he's always trying to explain his _ _ _ _ ups to Lane.I think he should be up for heisman. CROMPDADDY FOR HEISMAN

The rollouts address his limitations. From the pocket, he holds it forever and he had to scan a lot of field for receivers. Rollouts eliminate a lot of field nd all receivers are in view.

I think they are called to limit really bad decisions.

When I think of poor qbs at tennessee in my lifetime, 3 come to mind: Randy Wallace, Joey Matthews, and Jonathan Crompton. If memory serves me correctly they all wore #8. It has got to be the jersey.:birgits_giggle:

Right on the money about Hardesty, Lets hope he can get healed up, and stay healthy the rest of the way, This team goes as for as he is able to take them. I would really like to see some of T. Poole coming in to relieve hardesty. and use BB more in the passing game. Nice to see Brandon Warren back making another TD catch, anyone know what J. Jones problem was tonight. looked like the coaches was geting onto him on the bench.

crompton is not good... thats a given at this point. question is, do we have enough of a running game and depth at o line to handle the meat of our sec schedule. i say no.. dont expect more than 7 wins this season.

A 7-win season has been my personal goal for this year's team from the beginning.

I think Crompton is making small strides and playing better. The problem is when you're playing that poorly, no one is going to notice except the coaches.

Its one thing to be a bad qb. Its another to be bad and still have to play. He is all we have. Stephens is not the answer.

Its also sad that our wide receivers are left out in 1 on 1 almost all game and they can't beat it. Wnen both safeties creep to the line like they did the whole second half, their has to be a fade thrown at some point. Surely somebody can beat it and make a play on it

now with that said i believe kiffin and staff can recruit with best and his dad can coach em up... give us two yrs, assuming the recruits for this year stay committed, and we have another great class next yr we are gonna be competing for sec(nat'l) championships again, soon.
