i agree with the sentiment of the original post. but, i have no problem with greed. gordon gecco and i are best friends.

the problem is that the price of these things is surpassing the demand.

fans have begun to figure out that they don't need to pay full price for the akron, kentucky, troy and georgia state games and they will still have no problems getting their hands on the alabama and florida tickets when the time comes.

a lot of people have stopped paying extra for the love of their university.

i think people will find that when the economy recovers, whenever the hell that is, people still are not going to fork over $50.00 plus for these games where the opponent is paid to take a butt whipping

just buy tickets on the street dirt cheap a couple of hours before each game--$10-$20 each!

Let's take our jobs from america where we're making a ton of money, ship them overseas & not pay these 3rd word folks a thing so we can make more money, & ship our product back to the US & expect our jobless or on the verge of bankrupt folks to buy it. I knew somebody had that avatar. A friend and her husband went up to Woodford Reserve last weekend and did the tour. She said it was really impressive.

I agree that it's the wrong time to raise them, but they also have several projects coming online that need to be compensated for. If I'm not mistaken, UT and Alabama have the highest ticket prices plus donations in the SEC. I think that the high ticket prices may effect season ticket purchases, but those tickets will be sold on an individual basis if not bought.

I think that one of the things that is going to effect it even more is technology getting better and better, especially if the team doesn't get better in the wins column. Gas prices, food, lodging, parking, tailgating, tickets, popcorn, drinks, and apparel for one home game for a family of 4, can get upwards of $500 a pop, and that's on the cheap. Some people feel like investing in their home is better for them, especially when things are tight. Just the way it is right now.

wasn't this change known before last season even started? If you don't want/can't afford tickets then don't buy them. Pretty simple really

Yes, this has been known, but I think TG's point to starting this thread, is how far the AD is from meeting the fans in the middle, especially during a down time. There's a lot of people willing to invest in a winner, but since we haven't won a whole lot in the last 5+ years, the fans are kind of feeling the sting of trying to figure out whether to invest in a product that some feel isn't invested in making their experience a memorable one. Going to football games is all about building memories, and we haven't had a lot of good memories to build off of in years.

That was not his point in making the thread and if you search you will probably realize that. The reality is that tickets will never be cheap enough for some people to attend on a weekly basis. Also some of the best memories I've had in/around Neyland weren't necessarily related to the scoreboard. It's important but it's basically 3hrs out of a long weekend. If that's all you're in it for then it has been a rough ride.

See, your talking about just you though. Look at the big picture and ask yourself why people come to watch games at Neyland. It's not only to see their favorite team play, but it's to see them be competitive and win. There's not a lot of people in this economic age that can realistically continue to invest in a team that's mediocre, and that's honestly the truth, whether most want to realize it or not. If this team was winning, it would be easier to justify in their minds to invest the money, because the "fun" factor would be there for everyone in their family.

I'm a season ticket holder that travels 6 hours one way to go to the games. Gas and lodging for two days plus tickets is starting to not be worth it. 106" projection screen in my theater room is also making me rethink that ticket purchase as well.

Maybe if we all played by the same rules, the free market and supply and demand would be a good argument, but when people get grand fathered in on donations, that isn't free market.

And we the people are the government, the government isn't a foreign country. UT is the government too.

I to am a season ticket holder and will be again this year, but my issue with the tickets is $85.00 for Bama to come here when we went there last year for $70.00. $85.00 for Florida and $70 for Missioru. That is $240 for 3 games and $ 140 for the rest and that does not included the home game in the dome to kick off the season. That is the part that does not add up.

I dumped mine last season and still had the chance to go to every home game for less than 200 total. Best decision I've made. Had a great time hanging out in Knoxville and watching the games out with friends. I still will go to the stadium for big games but my days of season tix are over.
