Not the time for a new coach

Too easy. Dooley has never taken the best team in the land and turned them into a laughingstock like Gruden has.

Turned a terrible Raiders team into a team that lost to Super Bowl Champion Ravens in 2000 AFC Championship game. WON the SUPER BOWL against the Raiders. He's not coming here but let's not act like he can't coach.

i'm not disrespecting Phil. the guy left us nothing, and he's generally known as Phil.

You just hate Fulmer. He did more for UT than any coach but Neyland. If you want to blame people for this mess, blame Mike Hamilton and all the trustees that signed off on the Kiffin hire. Enough about Fulmer. The current team is still making the same mistakes that they made in game 1 and that is the coach's fault. Dooley has been at UT 3 years and still does not have a kicker that can kick an extra pt. or a punter that can kick the ball 30 yrds down the field. I am tried of everyone making up excuses for Dooley and this team and for blaming other people for the mess now. Sounds loke Obama blaming everyone for his own mistakes.

The majority of y'all are some impatient (*expletive deleted-fornicators*).

Here's a question: Those of y'all that are calling for CDD's head now....say y'all get your wish, and there's a "home run" hire made (Gruden, while idiotic, seems to be the popular choice)......are y'all gonna be so quick to judge and slam him when he falls flat on his face, or will you be the ones asking for patience and saying "give him time"??

Pretty sure the former's gonna be the case rather than the latter, thanks to this "nownowNOW" world we live in, where instant gratification is the only way. People nowadays have the patience of a damn two year old.

I would give him 3 years like everybody else.

A super bowl ring as head coach. We are a laughingstock... Please don't tell me you think the bucs were the best team in the land. You will have to do better than that.

I agree. Fulmer has nothing to do w our current situation, that's just dumb.

Agreed, Fulmer didn't leave a lot here when he was fired. However that has nothing to do with today's situation. Kiffin's recruiting class and timing of him leaving is why we had to hire someone like Dooley. Hindsight is 20/20 but an interim for a year probably would have been the best move after kiffin left.

How long can you blame Fulmer and Kiffin? This has also been said a ton, but this is not about just losing to UF it is a continuation of a trend this team has had under Dooley to fold when they are hit with any kind of adversity on the field and also getting out scored in the second half by a LOT of points.

Agreed… It’s not that they lost to UF, but how they lost.

so we let Dooley right the ship, get some recruits etc, now what? we need to hire someone big by the end of the season

What do u think of Dantonio? He has won some tough road games.

No one wants to go through this crap again but the right coach has to be hired. I pray Dooley wins the rest of his games this year, but he has given us as fans no reason to think that he can win anything. The staff turnover is his fault. He is the boss. There is obviously a reason why his staff is in constant transition. I'm sick of hearing about this. GBO

i agree, it looks a lot like last year, but i think it's still too early to tell.

This is true; however how well this team plays against Georgia (win or lose) if the effort for 4 quarters is not there Dooley's fate as coach will only get worst. Right now the trap game might be this weekend. Progress is what is expected. Nothing about the 4th quarter last week showed me where progress is being made especially against the competition.

Fulmer didn't leave much and the way the University handled the situation was horrible. Then the Lane train went just as fast as it came. Dooley was so far down the list it's not even funny. If there's anyone to blame, it's Mike Hamilton. He started this whole mess.

Against Dooley:
1) terrible record against ranked teams
2) team collapses in the 2nd half against ranked teams
3) terrible record against SEC teams
4) too many excuses

On Dooley's behalf:
1) inherited nothing from Phil and Kiffin
2) coaching overhaul this past year, including new D coordinator
3) team plagued by injuries last year
4) off the field behavioral distractions

With these issues, I'm still not sure why fans are calling for Dooley's job. Sure, the Florida game was a disgusting and heartbreaking display on both sides of the ball. But all is still new right now, including the season. TN can still easily go 7-6 with a bowl game win, or 8-5. No, I'm not for mediocrity, but that'd still be the biggest overall team improvement we've seen in about 5 years. What gives?

None of that matters. If CDD goes 0 for October, VolNation will run him out of town. Moving vans, for sale signs, the works.

I think we let the season play out. Hart has a list of who he wants. Everybody will know whats going to happen before the vandy game. If he hasn't won at least 6 before then, I think he is gone. If it happens, you want the fire/hire process to be fairly quick so recruits can meet a new coach and forgets about the old coach quickly. With that being said we need a homerun hire even if it takes a little longer.

As far as Dantonio, I think we could do a lot worse. I'm just not sure he fires up the whole fan base and gets recruits excited about coming here...

If Dooley had a Super Bowl ring as a head coach don't you think it would give him more credibility?

I'm not much on hypotheticals...but if Jon Gruden said he wanted the UT job right now...which coach would you rather have?

It's a no-brainer to me.....:whistling:

If we could get a sure fire awesome head coach is one thing, however Dooley is doing a good job recruiting good players that are staying out of police lineups. I live in the Crimson country and certainly see what high star rated thugs have done for Auburn. We lost to Florida, ok, been there done that with the great talent we had in late 90's etc. Truth is that Florida has more talent than we do. We are getting depth back and it's hard to judge Dooley fairly yet in my opionon. I hope he can get it going because another coaching change without it being a Stud hire will again push us back a year or 2 recruiting etc. Everyone wants to win, but it takes time and patience. It took the great Satan several years to get MSU up to snuff and that wasn't against SEC talent. We're improving and wins will come.
