The D did good...not great, good but seeing halftime adjustments for a change was awesome!!!

Did have too many missed tkl's but 1st game jitters along with missing our stud in the middle could explain some of that.

Watching the 2nd half as they made adjustments and settled in and for the most part shut down App the longer the game went on was the best part I seen. Stronger as the game went on and as they settled down and just played the game how Shoop adjusted to App's scheme. That bode's well for Shoop and our starters IMO and we didn't even shuffle into all the depth and still played well late in the game.

Good job VN for roasting this dude. Since he hasn't been back I think we need to chalk this up as a troll job. If it wasn't for the muffed punt App State wouldn't have put up more than 7 points.

I watched the game twice and I thought the tackling was pretty solid. Especially from Abernathy and McDowell. There were several plays were I thought Abernathy was going to get beat but he set himself up nicely and made some nice tackles. JRM was eating them up alive the first drive, I can't imagine how the defense would have looked with him out there.

There is a reason we all pay to watch these games and not get paid. Give the staff more than one game before you start trying to fire them. I think we got our ugly win out of the way early. I hope.

Indeed we did, after some critical half-time adjustments made by Bob Shoop. He's done this everywhere he's been and is one of the best at doing it.

Grew up in Knoxville and have family members that are UT grads. I love UT.
Missed tackles in the first half made me cringe. Guess I was expecting more from our defense. Been waiting for a top notch defense at UT for years. I love good defenses and know they win championships.
I hope Shoop pans out. I really do. Hope they pick it up a notch for the BoB, and the rest of the season.

How, or when will Tennessee fans be happy? Honest question. Shoop stopped an offense that is more like Air Force from scoring for 38 minutes, even third and Chavis couldn't stop that bleeding in 2006, the defense isn't/wasn't the issue last Thursday, it was the offensive line.

I partially agree with your assessment. It appeared to me, our team was not well prepared. Our offense sputtered too.
We should have beat AS by two or three touchdowns. Instead we barely came away with a win. This type of performance will not work against teams like Fla., Alabama, T A&M, etc..
I agree the D got tough in the second half but, some times that can be too little, too late.
Shoot me, cuss me, I don`t care. I am sick of UT being in the dumpster and being the joke of the SEC.
We are UT and we have pride.
Like all VOL fans, I hoping and praying for better days ahead.

So you would be upset if we barely came away with a win vs. Fla, Bama, A&M even if TN played bad? Personally, I'm happy with a W don't care if it's ugly or pretty just find away to get the win! That is something this team has not been able to do over the past few years.
