Not honoring Pruitt's contract

So you don’t think nick saban, dabo, Kirby, etc.. cheat? You are foolish if you think so. Competition is all about doing everything you can to gain a competitive edge.

He said cheat and get caught. They’re not going to get caught unless changes at the tops of the departments are made. Which they aren’t.

Whether it is written in there or not losing at home to Kentucky by 4 touchdowns is a breach of any Tennessee coach's contract.
Amen brother! But, we may lose by 4 td's to UK in Lexington, this year. Just sayin'.

He’s part of the good ole boys club and they take care of their own. They would last about 15 minutes in the corporate world where you’re paid on performance.

Doug Mathews is concerned that UT may not honor Pruitt's contract. He believes coaches may say "no thanks" when UT comes calling. They won't be able to trust UT.
Florida cherry picked a controversy to short McElwain his buyout and that followed up scheduling a home and home to avoid his buyout from Colorado State. When the penny-pinchers came calling for Mullen and any staff he wanted, there were no delays.

JMO but Mathews might be alluding to his friend PF here and making sure we honor his $37K montlhly payout as well as JP contract

FL fired Their last coach for cause. They had no trouble hiring Mullen.

I like Mathews but he is kinda out of touch.
Great point!
Not doubt that he is an out of touch DINOSAUR.
It’s time for him to be replaced by a competent individual who is in touch with today.........

If anybody ever had any doubt about Doug Matthews being a mouth piece for Fulmer what more do you need to see. That is Fulmer trying to save face in the coaching community through Doug Matthews. He just can 't get over the fact that his time as AD was a failure from giving not only Pruitt an extension but also Holly Warlick one as well and both were let go right after that. As far as the contract his thinking that we must honor it even though HE BROKE THE TERMS show Doug Matthews is totally out of touch and can't get over Fulmers failure either if he really believes it.

Doug, we like and respect you. Don't be on the wrong side of this issue. We know you are a Fulmer loyalist. We get it, we love lots of things Fulmer has done for Tennessee and we have displeasure in things he's done at Tennessee. It's life. Move on.

Pruitt's staff (if not Pruitt himself, I don't know because I have no evidence) is accused of many, many NCAA violations.

You can't seriously be advocating Tennessee compensate him during and after all of this can you?

I don't think this is about Pruitt, his contract or what future coaches might think. This is about Coach Matthews trying to help preserve the legacy of his friend Coach / AD Fulmer. If the contract isn't paid that means his buddy did something very wrong to Tennessee football simply by bringing this guy in and not monitoring what is going on. The fan base that is not willing to "aspire to be Kentucky or Ole Miss" is what will keep perspective coaches away. Not every coach wants to wade into this mess with a fanatic fan base unwilling to bend to accepting mediocracy.

I’d be more concerned about Pruitt walking into a COI hearing and saying “this booster did this and this boosters did that and that booster did this. And I have the messages to prove it. Oh, and what would you like to know about the Tennessee basketball and baseball programs?”

If we pay the mistake $12 mil for wrecking the program, it’ll double up the burning in effigy.

well, i'd say we've paid dooley and butch their money and their assistants. there's a difference in pruitt and his two predecessors. all three stunk it up, but one stunk it up while apparently blatantly cheating on a large scale.

Wouldn’t concern me what he makes up. Admitting his own part will really help his resume.

Don’t forget Fulmer’s FIRST buyout. And Currie.

Imagine this scenerio Doug....

You hire a contractor to come in and do extensive work on your home or build you a home. You enter into a contract. The contractor is obligated to build in accordance with the local and state code requirements (the law) and you are obligated to pay the contractor per the terms of the contract......Well, said contractor gets to work and during the project, it is discovered that the builder didn't build to code. If fact, there are multiple codes violations. So many, it's deemed unfit for human inhabitants.

The contractor is not only in violation of the laws that govern the industry standards, the contractor is in violation of contractoral agreement. At that point, the other party is not responsible for compensation.

Now, I'm the farthest thing from an attorney, but this should be common knowledge.

If there are any attorneys, please chime in.....

If I'm that homeowner, I reuse to pay and if we end up in court I would be nearly 100% confident that the judge would rule in my favor and in fact honor my counter judgment holding the builder financially responsible for damages to me.

Maybe Tennessee should seek legal opinion about holding those in violation responsible for the financial damages Tennessee has suffered....

There was very specific information about lvl I/II/enough lvl III to constitute a lvl I in the contract. How is firing for cause not honoring the contract?
