If OC calls long pass Joey is going to throw it long. With twin safeties , underneath throws were open. Quick passes should have been called by the OC. Screens and some draws in passing situations could have helped. Take what the defense is giving you. Offensive calls were head scratchers at times.Josh and Joey were not the reason Vols lost to Oklahoma.Joey was not given time to find a open receiver because he was getting killed every time, the reason for the interceptions and fumble! The reason we lost the game was the horrible play of the Offensive Line, they were truly horrible!
Bro he threw for 400 yards and 3 TDs. He has to learn to throw it away and not up for grabs.Josh and Joey were not the reason Vols lost to Oklahoma.Joey was not given time to find an open receiver because he was getting killed every time, the reason for the interceptions and fumble! The reason we lost the game was the horrible play of the Offensive Line, they were truly horrible!
Agree. I read his after game comments and he admitted he was fooled a couple of times by the D and should not have tried to force it. The scoop and score was unfortunate but not his fault. Right tackle got beat badly and left Joey blindsided.Bro he threw for 400 yards and 3 TDs. He has to learn to throw it away and not up for grabs.
What are you talking about he had no time.
And for you to view things so simplistically and saying “it’s not so and sos fault only” means you really don’t understand anything you’re watching.
Sanders didn't get beat. He made a freshman mistake and blocked the wrong guy and left a clear path for the DE to the QB. He screwed up.Agree. Penalties and not so good clock management by Heuple are still areas that needs improvement. Heuple has been outcoached a couple of times this season so he has room to improve also. I do think some changes to the D staff would be a good move by Heuple after the season.
Yeah, the first int the safety was sitting back and charged on it, it's like some game break down guy said, TN can be predictable and OU watched plenty of tape.If OC calls long pass Joey is going to throw it long. Exactly. David Sanders just got exposed when his eyes went inside.Sanders didn't get beat. He made a freshman mistake and blocked the wrong guy and left a clear path for the DE to the QB. He screwed up.
Mistakes were made by JA and JH in the game but the biggest issue was the absolutely poor play of the offensive line. and maybe, just maybe, credit should be given to great play of the Oklahoma defensive front. They just whipped Tennessee's OL all night. They wee dictating things...
Many times, mistakes in execution are because the other team out executes you..
Just a few geenral comments and first sentence is about what you said.![]()
Fair enough. I didn't recall that play in detail, just remembered Joey got blindsided. And agee the OK D should get credit for a lot of the bad O play but I stand by my comments on Heuple can improve his game management and the D staff at least needs an in depth review after the season.Sanders didn't get beat. They’re both to blame. Along with plenty of others.Josh and Joey were not the reason Vols lost to Oklahoma.Joey was not given time to find an open receiver because he was getting killed every time, the reason for the interceptions and fumble! The reason we lost the game was the horrible play of the Offensive Line, they were truly horrible!
The offensive line could've gave him a LITTLE more time, but he got wayyyy to greedy and didn't throw it away.Bro he threw for 400 yards and 3 TDs. He has to learn to throw it away and not up for grabs.

I blame the buy out culture you all created! Hang with me here, do you feel me? lol! You see why care about any accountability when you have a millions of $$ buyout? Hell I was with the federal government for 40 years total and I never had any such luxury. To be honest with you if I would have had any type of buyout luxury I would’ve been looking for a way to get fired ! So why care when you can still get $$$$ for being a bad employee! It’s a wonderful thing if you have it! Think about the buyout culture the next time you get bad service from anyone! Imagine how exponentially worse it would be if that person had a millions $$ buyout? Hell who would care anymore? The fans with opinions on what play was or was not stupid or who should be fired are tiresome. But the angst against Heupel and those saying he is at fault are too.
It may or may not be Heup's "fault" but he is accountable for all aspects of the program. The charge of leadership falls on the top person, and that is Heup for all things football. His accountability may not mean any changes are made though.
The thing is, if he executes his assignment on the right tackle Matthews scores a touchdown. He was wide open on the slant, it would’ve been an easy score. It would’ve been 14-0 and I think we would’ve won by 3 scores at that point. The margin of error for this team is so small. This team doesn’t seem to have a killer instinct to make that play that puts us over the top. For whatever reason, there’s just something missing and it’s the difference between 9-1 and where we are now.Sanders didn't get beat. If we can keep and develop a lot of guys and get them to be good upperclassmen players, while sprinkling in some good players of need in the portal I think we can be a very good team going forward. The formula for success of the last 2 national champs has been exactly that.when 69% of your roster is freshmen or sophomores, your going to have more mistakes then if it was 50-50.. or 60-40 upper classmen. Inexperience leads to more mistakes and missed assignments. and that will lead to losses... Just the nature of football in the SEC..
