I just can't see a pro coach stepping into college football unless they really, really love the recruiting aspect of the job.

I don't know Cowher's background. Has he ever commented on coaching college ball?

15 years as teh HC of the Pittsburgh Steelers. 2 AFC titles, 4 conf. chamipionship game apperances, double digit seasons in the playoffs, one Super bowl title.

Jake, I don't think he was questioning Bill Cowher's credentials as much as wondering if Cowher had ever expressed any interest in coaching at the college level. I've never heard that he has. Also, in answer to the original question posed in this thread, I live in Knoxville and listen to sports talk radio - only references I've heard/seen to Cowher taking over are on msg boards.

As soon as I posted, I noticed an article on MSNBC about Carroll, Spurrier and Ericsson (SP). They didn't mention college recruiting as a facet of the job. I've read somewhere that pro coaches have found college recruiting to be the biggest downside to college coaching.

I was wondering if Cowher had ever coached college ball.

Now you have it...couple that with I heard he bought land in Sevier County AND has ties to the University...what else do you need?

Bill Cowher's name is only floating around on the messageboards and on people's wishlists He is not coming back to coaching anytime in the next 18 months... if ever.

Him to actually come here. I believe cowher will be coaching soon again but it won't be here. He's a NFL coach and a wanted man. I don't see us winning a bidding war with a nfl team.

Yeah i hear you. But phil has taken most of the starch i had left and flushed it down the toilet. I just kinda sit and watch anymore and nothing surprises me. I almost take losses nonshalauntly anymore. Its sad.

I love Bill Cowher....dunno if he would fit in here BUT I don't think his wife would let him coach anymore.....I am a STEELERS fan and I remember rumors he stepped down because she was threatening divorce

this just in: 13 NFL coaches and 26 HC's of major college teams have purchased land in Sevier County within the past 2 months. They all are married to former Vol cheerleaders, own orange lawnmowers and a collection of 8-track tapes by the Osborne Brothers.

Awesome, with the season in the ditch, he's has gotten in one guy's face this entire season.

I'm willing to bet our guys don't respect Fulmer half as much as the Gamecocks respect Spurrier.
