...
The schedule is very much in Tennessee's favor.
Syracuse is a W
East TN state W
Georgia - L
UAB - @
MS State - W
Arkansas - Toss-up
Alabama - Toss-up
Kentucky - W
Oklahoma - Toss-up
NM State - W
Florida - W
Vandrebilt - W

Assuming they win at least one maybe two toss-up, it's a good season coming up.

I don't usually watch the games as they are being played, wife doesn't like baseball, basketball, football, just sports in general. I usually watch the games on youtube, or replays if I record the games.

One thing I have noticed, too many times, a batter will stand and take a called strike 3, swing at a pitch out of the strike zone, or half swing at a pitch and hit an easy ground ball for an out. Fielding has been sketchy, to say the least. Errors are killing them.

I support the team without question, and realize this is a young team. Experience gained this year can really help them next year.

I believe their confidence is low right now, and that's something that will cause one to push too hard and make more mistakes. Still, GO VOLS!!!

Everyone keeps talking about what we lost last year. While that's true, I started to consider how many of those "losses" were transfers IN to our program vs how many were brought up in this culture? Seems like it's a case of continuity and experience that have been our strengths these last several years. Now we have a roster that's a collection of guys who are either very young or who have transferred in? Might be way off base here...pun intended...but I don't see a lot of that veteran leadership that came up through our program for us to turn to this year. For me, that was one of our biggest strengths. I'll say it again, the transfer portal is not good for the game. It's great to see a really solid group of guys set the tone then have the youngsters coming in after them be able to watch, learn and grow. Passing it from one group to the next if you will.
๐Ÿ’ฏ. I couldnโ€™t agree with you more. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Š๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŠ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Š

In 24 SEC contests this season, Tennessee has committed 25 fielding errors to its opponent's 13 (this doesn't include the errors vs Vandy). The Vols have committed 49 errors to their opponent's 43 in all contests during the 2025 season. Stolen bases attempted vs. Vols 33/CS 7. Fielding % is .971 or 12th in the conference. Hitting and pitching can't overcome this.
I have been waiting for some time to state this. The Vol team is just average this year. Outside of about three regular position players, one outstanding pitcher along with a couple or so good ones, this team is below the SEC average. This is the worst catching I have seen by UT in a long time. (set aside hardly ever having a chance to get a stealer, can't throw the ball well enough anyway and too many balls getting past the position)) Also who ever coaches the pitchers (not how to pitch the ball) should be "on the block". He has done nothing to teach the position. Overall hitting is improving to me. They have quit using what I call the upper cut swing (trying for the long ball as I see it) and started swinging more level which, I think, allows better contact. Defense or lack there of - - - Got to improve, one way or the portal way. Again an average SEC team.

1.

Rigden.
On another note, it is frustrating to see Corbin still recruits most of Middle TN's best. TV should be making headway there. Don't know if he doesn't try or isn't successful. Also, the sophomore pitcher who won the game for candy is from East TN I think I read. He's a sophomore playing in his 1st season. Equally frustrating.
You know not what you say. TN has lots of middle TNโ€™s finest on its roster. Recruiting isnโ€™t an issue. See our #1 ranked class and top 5 classes for the next few years. Geez.

Heard Vandys coach today on the radio. He was talking about the Saturday game and how they mainly wanted to get on base as they k ew they could steal bases and put runners in scoring position easily. Vandy hasnโ€™t been the only team, Kentucky seemed to steal easily.

We really need to get a good defensive catcher with an arm to overcome this,
Very few stolen bases can be attributed to our catchers. Fwiw, Peebles has posted some elite pop times.

Itโ€™s fair to question the construction of this team. Especially the pitching staff. Worst pitching depth Vitello has had since his 2nd year. They signed 5 JUCO arms and none of them gave really contributed in SEC play. I am interested to see how Tony and Frank address the pitching needs in the offseason. You gave Kuhns, Krenzel and Loy that you feel good about. Who else?
Seibert, May, Sharp, Abraham, and a few others.

Maybe so but a very below average post. Perhaps you should have waited longer and taken the time to do some research. You want to fire the best pitching coach in the nation? LOL.

Thanks for all the insight. On this last part, do you think TV's frustration we saw and he directed at a particular player was more for FA? It seemed really personal and like it had building inside. I'm thinking there's been discussions bt TV and FA ... and that was the boiling point moment.
I know for a fact that our ex-pitchers are being told Day 1 in the pro's that they have to get down to 1.4 or better or they are not leaving high A ball. That is a quote I have been told by several scouts. All of us baseball guys already knew that this philosophy of not caring about times or holding runners was so anti-baseball is was nonsensical. Literally, no one else in baseball has this philosophy. But, then they win a Natty and we looked foolish to the unwashed with our justified criticism of FA. Well, the SEC has figured this out. They all run on us at an embarrassing rate and now it is losing games! They won't stop running till we stop them running. And hey, our old pitchers can actually learn to get to 1.4 or better!!! Halverson, Dollander, Tidwell !!! Who knew??

I'm not looking for FA to get fired, but this crazy philosophy has got to change! Go Vols!!!

The primary reason I canโ€™t go into the game threads. Just too many NegaVols who have no clueโ€ฆ.
Most are football/basketball fans who started following once we got so good at baseball.

It's so different (especially in college) than those 2 sports compared to pro ball

Ah I see; I interpret that as him agreeing with a hypothetical scenario. I very strongly doubt football gets 100% of the rev share pie; it'll most likely be 75% (70% at minimum), which makes sense considering football brings in 75-80% of the revenue.

Most of it can only be corrected during the offseason so itโ€™s too late now but this is what I would do:

1. Nobody on the infield picks up a bat at practice until they field 100 ground balls cleanly with throws over included.

2. Insert Loy into the starting rotation since he is a lefty and will cut down on stolen bases.

3. Pitchers have to run poles that are timed for every ball thrown outside the strike zone during their bullpen sessions. They also have to run poles for every pitch thrown down broadway with a 2-strike count. If you donโ€™t cross the finish line in time then you have to run the poles again.

4. Late game simulated situations with Tony screaming into the pitchers face with a megaphone.

5. 50 Push ups for every pop up, weak grounder. 100 pushups for every double play hit into.

Bonus: 500 pushups for every base running mistake by the offending player.

Bonus 2: Tally every single mistake throughout practice, multiply the number of mistakes by 3 and thatโ€™s how many pushups the entire team has to do.
Craig James is going to be knocking on your door with these punishments

I think the SEC is humbling. FSU is the only non SEC team I think would have a winning record with an SEC schedule.

Florida won the season series vs FSU at a time when they were still seriously struggling in SEC play. FSU had an improbable 9th inning rally in game 2 to avoid getting swept by UF.

So Iโ€™m not so sure FSU would be any better than .500 in the SEC, but I understand your point, and the SEC is definitely humbling.

I couldn't disagree more, respectfully.

Kilen, Fischer, Curley, Bargo, Ensley are all-SEC type players. Curley has really gotten in his head this year but there is a reason he is still projected to go so high in the draft. Doyle, Phillips, Russell, Snead (possibly Franklin) are all projected to go in the top 3 rounds in the draft this summer.

We are a top 5-10ish talented team in the country, a lot of these young guys will look so much better next year
