Not good (involving Trey Smith)

Ok, you demanded on answer to your question...

I am conservative. I am Christian. I voted for Trump.
I would forgive anyone that wronged me, but I don't see what my forgiveness has to do with this situation.
Trey's actions are the only thing that matters as far as his opportunities go. There are plenty of guys that screw up golden opportunities (josh Gordon, Darick Rogers, johnny manzel, aaron hernandez).

I don't see how my actions can be considered hate filled, but a guy pounding into another guy is perfectly acceptable. Can you answer that question?

You're comparing one high school fight to pattern drug abuse and murder? Do we need to write a pamphlet to help you out?

This happened two years ago. He was a juvenile at the time. The other kid was a juvenile. This incident was not reported to the police. And I haven't seen any reports that the "victim" is looking for "justice" over this fight. The "victim" cares less about this than people on this forum calling for "justice."

This is a non-issue. It was a fight between two kids. It happens all the time.

People and news sources keep saying "2 years ago", but I can't find that he played in an under armour game besides the one that took place in January this year. Surely this information is readily available. If it was this year, we are talking about 4 months ago, just before arriving on campus.

That would definitely change the recent narrative of Smith "mature beyond his years"

All adults, all answerable as adults. Trey is 16 maybe 17. Both kids the same age. Would you penalize him as an adult for something that occurred as a juvenile? I don't care what your political persuasion is. You can say what you want now. You need to reconcile my question with your previous "actions" about involving the law.

Pleeeeze! Since I'm on the large size of the measuring stick, ya' gotta' believe I've heard that schtick before. Here ya go...and pay attention. My latest fiction work is coming out. It's entitled "Paradigm Leap" and is faux-moniker-authored by Verne Moritz. That's my pen name for my new science fiction series of books. Read the last two pages which represent the author. That's me. You'll see that I've been a bouncer and I was also a body guard. It doesn't mention the further adventures of this writer, though, which included a 12-0 heavy-weight record in that little venue called "Golden Gloves" in which I trained under the late/great Ace Miller .5'-10"? Nah. Cruiser-weights seem to be the most all-round most difficult to overpower...'bout 6' and 180-ish. I despise bullies (My old fellow bouncer buddies from Uncle Sam's will verify that.). As for those "tough guys" you mentioned: I lived in Pacific Beach in SD in the '70's and spent countless wild nights in TJ with my USMC and Seal buddies. 'Doubt you can school me about them, and yes, we definitely surfed...ever tried Rosarita Beach down on the Baja? I lived just down-beach from Bird Rock...know of that spot...#1 waves in SoCally. I've got a series of books which are the about-to-be-released-lineup of a trilogy. Why am I telling you this? It's so you can look me up. I do book signings quite often, with one in Knoxville coming this summer. Come see me. I'll tell you tales of nice guys who, nonetheless, understand the necessity for, uh, men to be men. I'm not at all a "tough guy;" just stand-up...as are most men. The beers are on me, Remy. Is the Roman Room still in biz?

Very impressive, sameolvol. I threw back more than my share in the old Roman Room back in the mid-to-late 60's. When and where is your book signing? Seriously, I'd like to attend and converse. I live about 2 hours from Knoxville and would gladly drive over, meet you, and buy your book.

Can you imagine the abuse he is getting from teammates now? Worse than the slaps he got from Trey.

"Our Vols sources tell us the team was very familiar with the video and determined it was shot almost 2 years ago at an Under Armour football camp when Trey was 15 years old.
We're told the video was brought up by multiple schools during the recruiting process -- but Tennessee ultimately decided Trey is not a bad guy.
As one Tennessee source put it, "Ask anyone in the state, they will tell you he's an unbelievable kid. They'll tell you who he really is. Not the video."
We reached out to Ole Miss to try and get Tony's side of the story. So far, no word back.
Interesting point ... both guys now follow each other on Twitter."

Like I said, nothing to see here...

16 and 17 year old kids are penalized as adults from time to time in the court system, so that's not out of the realm of possibility. He is on scholarship to play football, which is a higher standard, so yes he should face some kind of penalty for his (recent?) actions.

Oh ok. Now that you said that, you convinced me that just spanking a guy is perfectly fine. No ramifications whatsoever... :pilot:

However, you steal something, expect some consequences.

If you get spanked first, are you then allowed to steal something in retribution? Trying to make sure I'm down with the rules of the street.

"..down with the rules of the street."?? You never have been nor will you ever be. Who are you trying to kid? Didn't work...

Before he was a Vol? Is that UT's place? I think not.

Let's be honest. If he was a Bammer, you'd be calling for life in prison.

If "if and buts were..." so it wasn't a bammer, so it is fine.
Besides it was an Ole Miss recruit who got caught stealing. They are the ones that should be embarrassed. We should get bumper stickers bragging about this.

No.

ok, please share all these other accounts that show how the kid deserved to be battered.

That's your problem. You act like this kid got put in a wheelchair for life. You act like he was hospitalized and eats through a straw now. You act like he talks through a machine like Steven Hawking or something ridiculous.

The kid got up and walked away without a scratch. Bruised a little? Maybe, we don't even know if he was bruised. Battered? Just STOP. You've lost it completely there.

And you know what? If you're willing to take something by force or by subversion from someone, then you had damn better be willing for them to take it back by force.

I will completely change my tune if we find out the kid did not steal from Trey, but until then, I just don't understand your unwillingness to stand up for what's rightfully yours or for someone else to do the same, and we'll have to agree to disagree.

But if agitating is not nice, there are times that I am supposed to do it. This street cred thing is so hard to understand, but I'm coming along

Community agitator, huh? Sounds painfully familiar and, no, your making zero progress in that department. Knowing full well you're being arrogantly sarcastic.

When I say battered, I am talking from the legal definition of physically assaulting someone. And no, you don't have a right to attack someone if they steal your stuff. You can stand up for your stuff all day long, but in the end it's just stuff and doesn't warrant attacking the person.

Fair enough on "battered."

Again, agree to disagree.

Video is two years old. He was a juvenile. Other kid was a juvenile. No charges filed. Are you such a bleeding heart lilly pad that you would penalize a kid two years later by jeopardizing a student athletic opportunity? I thought libs were the forgiving sort. You are one hate filled individual.

The vast majority of them are like this guy, 82. If you don't blindly agree with them, they are the most intolerant, destroy-you personally bunch around.

You can disagree with me, but if you attack someone who has stolen your stuff, and there's no threat to you, you are breaking the law. So you are disagreeing with the law, which is your right.

Stop trying to make this political. Conservatives are certainly not a bunch of tough macho men themselves. The kid handing out the beating is also probably a liberal. All of you need to grow up and man up.

How could you possibly have any idea. Pure guess work on your part. Speaking of needing to grow up and man up, we're waiting on you, k-town... and it's getting late.

It was an Under Armour Football Camp, not an Under Armour Football Game. The camps are held all over the country, all throughout the year. If you are just looking at games, that may be why you can't readily find the information.

goldvol has basically kept this thread going for over 30 pages now over a kid fight if true was two years prior when Trey was not associated with UT in any official capacity. Want Trey punished goldvol, ask his father to put him in timeout. Don't like trolls VN? Quit feeding them.

Thanks, that makes sense to me.
