Hiring a new HC takes time, lots of time unfortunately for us fans.

Our AD may have a list of 50 to 100 questions he wants asked and answered before he makes a solid offer.

Our new prospective HC may have 50 to 100 questions he wants answered before he can make a final decision.

There may be more questions than that when they get down to the exact details so our AD may have his UT legal expert with him and the prospective new HC may have his agent/attorney with him.

It's not just as easy as our AD saying...I'll pay you $5 Milion or $6 Million per year, what do you say?

I'll list a few things our AD may ask and a few things our new prospective new HC may ask and then all of you THINK this process through and add what you as the AD or prospective new HC might also want to ask before finally getting all the little details nailed down.

AD might ask some things like...

1...What type of O would you run in the SEC?

2...What type of D would you run in the SEC?

3...Does having to play Alabama every year cause you any concerns?

4...Will you be strict with the players to keep their academics well up to our high standards?

5...Would you change your current recruiting standards coming into the SEC?

6...Since all our current assistant coaches are still under contract for another year, would you consider interviewing some of them for your staff to try to help me hold down our coaching costs for a year or 2?

7...Have you thought about who you would like as your OC, DC and other assistant coaches and how much you think it will cost us to get them hired on your staff?

8...Do you know about our VFL program and given any thought to who you would like to hire to run that part of our program?

9...Have you studied our current player roster and can you give me any guess as to how long it will take you to get us back to the top of the SEC East?

The new prospective HC may ask some things like...

1...I know how much you spent this past season for coaching assistants and other staff, do you expect that amount to stay the same or will I be given more $$$$ so I can try to hire really good coaches that are also excellent recruiters?

2...What if I wanted to try to hire Tee Martin away from USC as my OC and also since he's a really good recruiter, how do you think the UT fans would react to that?

3...We both know that to get to the top of the SEC will require top recruiting and with this new early signing deal my staff and I will be up against the wall to try to bring in as many great recruits as we can, do you have a idea of how many private jets we'll have available so we can his the road fast and talk to as many top recruits as we can before the first signing period?

4...How much will our bonus money be for winning the SEC East, Winning the SEC, Making it to round 1 of thhe playoffs, making it to the National Championship game, Winning the National Championship?

5...Is it possible to add $250 K to my budget so I can add 2 more quality control coaches to my staff like Alabama has?

6...Will I have any say in who we try to sign as our OOC games?

7...How much $$$ per month will my car and insurance allowance be?

8...How much $$ are you expecting my buyout to be?

There's many more things the AD and prospective new HC will want to know before a actual contract is drawn up and signed...What would you ask if you were our AD or the prospective new HC?

Please be serious with your added questions here...If that's possible, LOL.

Highly doubt the AD asks any x and o questions. If you've made it to the interview, they already believe you can coach football. They want to know more about the program management aspect.

If this AD screws up this hire, then we can hire you as our new AD. Just make sure that the coach tells you that he can beat Bama, Georgia, and Florida then he is hired!:)

Thanks for the support of me becoming the next AD at Tennessee.

Before I would accept that position I would have to be allowed to have a 51% vote on a entire new Board of Trustees and a new Admin and the top priority would be...Make ALL the UT sports Winners again!!!

We just simply ARE the Big Orange of Tennessee and WINNING is our tradition and in our Orange blood!

Do you believe altering or adjusting your scheme to counter the opponent's tactical moves is a necessary function of a proper coaching staff?

If a player is failing in some respect on or off the field, then how do you and your staff confront the problem?

Given UTs history I hope he has Fulmer and Manning tight there to talk x's and o's, personel, S&c practices etc. Like Jones and Dooley program management talk is easy for b.s. football isn't

I've only interviewed for a college position coach position, but I've done multiple head coach interview on the high school level and I've never once talked x's ans o's with athletic director nor principal.

Interview someone you know can coach, then vett everything else (character, player management, etc).

Here's what I'd ask a prospective Head Coach at Tennessee......

What is your plan to learn the history and culture of this football program?

Do you know who Bowden Wyatt was? Do you know "The Maxims"? Do you know why our team color is Orange?

Do you plan to reach out to Coach Majors? Coach Fulmer?

As AD, I want a good X's and O's coach, a good recruiter, and a developer of talent. But I also expect discipline (on and off the field) and I expect a certain understanding and respect of the winning tradition of this program and some knowledge and appreciation of those who came before you whom you now wish to succeed.
