Not coaches fault

What bothers me is that we seem to have 'Chavis Jr.' as our defensive coordinator.

I really, really hope that this is just a personnel issue - because let's face it, the talent is thin - but our 3rd down defense has been extremely weak. The defense played well today, better than they played against UAB; however, some of those 3rd/4th and ridiculous situations came up again today and they were converted a high percentage of the time.

13 men on the field at that critical juncture sucks, but the game was lost on the 4th and 14.

shaky qb, slim lead on the road against a top 10 team with a chance for a signature win -- bring the house.

but we didn't, they converted, and that was the ball game.

You probably can't bring the house there either. I don't like the play that was called because Reveiz ended up playing safety, but I wouldn't have been for an all-out blitz either.

So they go to a goal line package and we shouldn't put in our goal line D? Thats what happened, we tried to bring them in, but with all of their confusion some of our players were confused as well. It would have been a mistake by the staff to not make substitutions, especially since we were supposed to be allowed time to do so since they did. In reality we could have taken our time doing it and the ref would have had to hold the ball till we were set but that didnt happen. Our d got pressured and made the mistake switching players to respond to their formation.

Tuff lose today Vols. I was hoping you would get the win, but wow. Your players left everything on that field, what a heart break. See ya in three weeks.

disagree, but that is why i'm watching on TV instead of making the call on the sideline. Lee does not handle the heat very well -- LSWho fan watching the game with me was even more adamant.

I thought these players were young and inexperienced. Now they are experienced enough to know what to do? Pick an argument and stick with it apologists. This is squarely on Wilcox's shoulders IMO. Nothing he has done to this point can change my mind that he is in over his head.

It's becasue of that damn dry erase board that Wilcox trashed. I heard the walkthrough was chaotic...red,green,blue, black magic markers and nothing to write on.

Some players clearly confused the color of the goal line stand play. If you turn the audio up high for that play, you can hear two players arguing, "It's Red dumb azz, get off the field....NO, it's BLUE, you get off...I got this one."

Seriously most of the time I love to come on here and see what everyone has to say after a game win or lose, but tonight I'm disgusted at what I am seeing from everyone on here.

Was there a mistake made by the coaches? Yes. Am I using that as an excuse to call for their heads like a bunch of people are doing? No. There was a lot going on in that last play we are a young team with a new coaching staff with a chance to upset a ranked team in their own environment. All I've heard is how hard it can be to hear in that stadium and while I wasn't there I have to believe that the place was roaring with a last minute chance to win the game.

Yes this loss sucks bad, and it's a hard pill to swallow, but it is no reason to crucify our coaching staff, who by the way had our outmatched team ready to come in and play ball, and even had us in a position to win the game. It could be so much worse we could have a Les Miles for a coach who doesn't have the brain capacity to know when to call a timeout. I haven't lost my faith in Dooley or this coaching staff after this game, and if you have it just goes to show you didn't have much to begin with.

Just my :twocents:.
