all i'm hearing is an average sec east. not the case at all!! this year you are seeing more diverse strategies than ever before, florida is more wide open than never, sc has spurrier, ut same old same old but hard stop, and Georgia all over the map. Please give this conf. some love for changing things up a little bit, all have their weak points but their strong points are making for one hell of a year :hi:

I think Vercingetorix said it best in the LG1 thread when he said:

"It's hard to think that the SEC East can be that good when the entire division only has one good win over a non-division opponent (Kentucky over LSU). Stack that up against Tennessee getting pasted by Alabama and Cal, UF losing to LSU and Auburn, Kentucky losing to MSU and barely beating a really mediocre Louisville team, South Carolina having so much trouble with North Carolina....well, it's hard to construct an argument that our division is a bunch of juggernauts beating up on each other."

I couldn't believe that we laid down like that in the 4th quarter, but we haven't played a good game except for UGA for the whole game.

the only bad loss i see in your response is msu's win and that comes down to desperation

...Tennessee getting pasted by Alabama (Bad) and Cal (Bad),... Kentucky losing to MSU (Bad) and barely beating a really mediocre Louisville team (Not Good), South Carolina having so much trouble with North Carolina (Not Good) ....

i'm just saying with all the new coaching and talent in the SEC at present anything can happen on any given weekend. Some one please tell me when so many team have so many game plans than what what we see today. plans can change week to week instead of run right, run left and a 5 yard pass. the Bad part is we can't seem to catch up to this idea

Not to sound like Lou Holtz or anything, but I think it is certainly a down year in the SEC east. In 3 or 4 years we should be very strong though.

The normal powers (UT, UF, UGA) are somewhat down. Additionally, the normally crappy teams are better than usual. Vandy is a great team (by Nashville standards) and Kentucky is fielding their best team this century. This is about as even as the six teams have ever been.

agreed. Kentucky is pretty overrated but I guess that still counts as their best team this century...

They beat LSU. Florida and Auburn couldn't do that. Kentucky could consistently (this year, at least) be really good if they could figure out how to mask some of their weaknesses. The Florida team that won it all last year had plenty of problems. Urban Meyer just didn't let them get exploited. It would be nice if someone in Knoxville could figur out how to do the same.

they looked pretty God-awful during the Miss St game. Also, I recall that I claimed LSU was overrated as the number 1 team.

The SEC East is VERY bad. There is not one dominant team. Every team has been given the chance to take control but noone CAN do it b/c there are no teams that I would consider to be very far above average. I still think Florida is the strongest team in the division with a healthy Tebow but they still don't stand up to at least two teams from the west. Sorry but this year is UGLY. This would have been a great year for someone like SC, Vandy. or Kentucky to step up and do something with the big three down but they have only been slightly better than their typical doormat status and SC and Kentucky have been grossly overrated for the entire season on the national stage. I told one of my SC friends after the UNC game where they where ranked 6 or 7 that it was going to be a long hard fall for them. I figured on them losing three of their last 4 at best...then they lost to Vandy so I am betting on them losing their last five. Now it looks like to me that either UT or UGA is going to win the division. We all know that the 2007 version of these two teams would not even be close to the top in years past.

I think what is missing this year is consistency. All of the teams in the East have looked like world beaters once or twice. But each team has also thrown in at least one clunker. UT has lost three games, and two of those were blow-outs. Florida has lost three games and while two of them were close, last-minute losses to good SEC teams (Auburn and LSU), the third was a dismal performance against UGA, which was smoked by UT. South Carolina and Kentucky have simply faded in the last few weeks.

Looks like either UT or UGA will represent the East in the SECCG. And both of them have played excellent games and also been thrashed.
