make it so hard to pull for the guy because of how they grovel over him regardless of the situation. Here in the Genesis tournament a moment ago they were talking about him playing “fantastic golf“ when the guy’s 10 shots off the damn lead. I realize it’s another “comeback” for Woods, but geez.

If what a broadcaster has to say about Tiger Woods tips the scales on whether or not you pull for him, chances are you weren’t much of a fan to begin with.

Also the truth is a hobbled, aging TW is still a bigger ratings draw than most if not all the other PGA players. So they know what the viewers want and are going to cater to it. If TW stops moving the needle, they'll stop talking about him.

Yep. It's remarkable the degree to which he moves the needle, because it isn't like the Tour currently has a lack of good young players. It is unbelievable that this guy is able to shoot anything above about an 85 in a Tour event, much less make the cut.

Golf is also a unique sport where it isn't unusual for a guy to still be playing well into his 40s. If, for example, Michael Jordan was still contributing to a team when he was 47, I imagine he would have gotten similar coverage. Tom Brady got similar treatment this year.
