After watching the game last night I was left with a feeling that I am not familiar with when it comes to the Vols....indifference. I'm not sure if it is brought on by the Covid19 pandemic, the political climate or the fact that I was just expecting to see more from our Vols. I really think it must be a combination of everything. We are all looking for something to brighten our mood and returning us to some form of normal what ever that might be. I think most of us Vol fans were hoping to get back to winning and we were hoping that our Vols would give us a glimpse of sunshine in what has been one of the dreariest periods of time that I have ever seen in my 60 years.
Unfortunately what we have seen falls short of our expectations as well as I am sure the teams but something has got to give. Are we really this bad, are the coaches this unprepared for the task they were given, have the players been given the game plan to succeed and they are just not able to either physically or mentally carry it out. Have the coaches been to stubborn to see that what they are doing isn't working or is the psyche of this group of young men so fragile that at the first sign of adversity the just give up ? Is it a combination of everything we are all going through away from the field and for some reason this team is less focused on the task at hand than others, I really can't put my finger on it.
First response is to fire everybody from the AD to the waterboy but if you look around Michigan, Penn State and Stanford aren't lighting it up and Georgia got their hats handed to them along with a Clemson losing (although half their D and QB was out but they still got a LOSS).
I do not pretend to have the answer but I do know this, unless something changes for the better quick or Vols are going to be in a position they may never recover from. People want results and want them now and I am afraid this is going to take A LOT LONGER than most are willing to wait for and the the feeling of indifference is the first sign of losing a fan base and am afraid I am not alone.
