It’s baseball so anything can happen—especially in one game (and not a typical 3-game series). Plus, we pulled Chase Burns early (who was virtually unhitable) since it was still so early in the season. Burns only gave up 1 run and 2 hits in 5 innings. Unfortunately, our normally stellar bullpen gave up 6 runs and UT lost 7 to 2.Obviously, we’re good, but what was up with the Texas game? Was that a fluke in a 1 off game? Would be have a shot in a best of 3 or are they just THAT good?
Baseball is unlike any other sport. If you look at midweek games, there are smaller schools competing and beating the bigger schools every week.Obviously, we’re good, but what was up with the Texas game? Was that a fluke in a 1 off game? Would be have a shot in a best of 3 or are they just THAT good?
I'll second that. I mean look at Major League Baseball. There's not a sport out there with a bigger sample size in a season: 162 games. With that many games, pretty much every team wins a third of their games and loses a third of their games, unless you're just exceptionally good or bad. It's what happens with that middle third that makes or breaks your season. College is pretty much the same thing, just with fewer games. Great teams have bad days, bad teams have great days. To the point about Texas, there's no telling yet. We're both really good. The postseason is double elimination, though, so come crunch time, everyone gets a second chance to show whether or not they just had an off day.a typical College World Series team loses 10-20 games throughout the season. Tennessee's #6 team last year finished 50-18 (25-12 in SEC games). For the Vols to have only one loss so far, that's a school record.
Last year's team run ruled the National Champs in the SEC tournament.... MS State got hot and also caught some breaks at the right time..... This team has a shot at a Natty but will need a break or two , as any team , to win it all... It's Baseball..... Personally I think NC State was as playing as good as anyone at the end and the breaks went against them. Just some things to consider....I love this game.... TV and staff have done remarkable !!!
