Watching the UM-ECU game right now and its a boat race already in the first quarter, the Tigers are solid. Something that stands out to me is the impact of walk-ons through-out the season. They have clearly developed their talent and are reaping the rewards as a result. This is a sign of a good coach and staff.

I'm a Norvell fan, he has improved recruiting beyond what Fuente did and has a crazy good offense.

My opinion matters just as much as everyone else's on here (which is to say, not at all) but I thought I would contribute to the chaos. :)

Just look at Riley Ferguson. Butch had no ideal how to use him.

Norvell seems like the one of the better fallback options if we can't land a top-tier type guy. Certainly not a guaranteed success and pretty short track record as HC, but I like what I've seen out of him. I've watched a few Memphis games this season and been impressed. Still much rather land someone like Frost, Mullen, or even Venables. But Norvell is certainly a better option than Schiano (who has been repeatedly rumored --- that would be a trainwreck.)

Schiano's OSU defense getting lit up by Michigan.

Fuentes got his offense from Norville while both were at Arizona state!

Norville is the real deal.

Should be at the top of fall back list!

Butch sucked at development, no doubt. However, Riley didnt want to wait behind Dobbs. And he got 4 years before he had this breakout season.

I actually like this guy for UT. And imagine what he may be able to do with top flight talent in there development. Not saying he doesn't have good talent now but not 4 or 5 star talent.

Wrong. Ferguson couldnt cut it here.

How many plays did he get? How do we know that? Only thing I know is it seemed we brought in plenty of talent, ran off 40% of them, broke another 30%, let 15% just play special teams, and the rest saw the field but played gassed due to a mysterious lack of depth.

Are we bringing in bad coaches or just making them take stupid pills while they are here? The whole thing just blows my mind.

I think he’s a star head coach in the making, think he’d do an excellent job here. However, heard yesterday that he’s no longer on our radar as a candidate. Vetted him and decided to no longer pursue him.....not sure why.

It's easy to do well with someone else's recruits. I wonder how well he would do in the SEC recruiting

Butch 2.0

Stop it. Jones was an absolute fraud and buffoon. Never once heard anybody discuss him as a great up and comer...never once heard anybody refer to Jones as a superstar coach in the making as I’ve heard Norvell referred to. As a matter of fact, nobody knew who the hell Sgt Carter even was before we (mistakenly) hired him.

Norvell was a highly thought of and highly sought after OC before going to Memphis and doing the great job he’s currently doing. Jones was none of that.
